I've been acquainted with him since the mid-nineties in various settings and, although he has sometimes questioned officials about certain decisions and sometimes expressed disagreement, he never has to my knowledge ever tried to manipulate things with his powerful and influential position in paintball. He is, as I said, dead set against such behavior.

Unfortunately I have seen examples of manipulation on the part of a few other prominent personalities, promoters and others. That is why we really need truly independent and untouchable officiating organizations and Laurent, more than any other top name in the business, is pushing for such an organization. He knows that is the next major thing needed to make this into a sport, before we get on TV.

Believe me, Tontons would laugh a vicious laugh if they heard any suggestion that they get special treatment...unless it is negative special treatment being discussed.
couple of questions here,

was laurent on the tons roster at the start of play on friday, i understand he hasn't played for a few years.

did he play any part in any game at cc

didnt see it myself but heard reliably that there was a guns down incident against the tigers, was that a gun or id check

in that incident allegedly one ton player was removed from the field, had he committed an offence at the start gate, was it a gun cheat, was he a registered player, was it laurent.

why if that incident was a non registered player was it not a team DQ. as i understand that another was DQed for that same offence

if laurent did play why did he not play in the finals

someone please enlighten me

Laurent didn't play - unfortunately someone made the officials aware he was not a rostered player - before he played - so he was not allowed on-field.

When I say unfortunately, I mean that had he played even one game, the Tontons would have automatically forfitted all their games, according to the rules, which would have put a much different spin on the quarterfinals division - especially the last round match-up, where the Tigers would have had a reason to play for the win, and could have made the final four, had they beat Nexus with 5 players alive :)

Ironically, I understand it was someone from the Tigers that made the officials aware of Laurent not being an eligble player - so can you say "irony"? :D :p

Tonton's guns were shooting notciably over 15 bps. I spoke to Several industry experts (who were stationed at the tech booths, and watching TonTons Play), and they all agreed that their guns were ramping uncapped.

It's even more obvious when you've been listening to 15 bps all day.

20 bps x 6 players is 120 paintballs shot per second by a team on the breakout.

15 bps x 7 players is 105 bps.

TonTons didn't play at any sort of disadvantage, at least not on the breakout.

Plus several players were spotted using breakout mode...

The problem is that the rules state that you must prove the guns are shooting over 15 bps, and since the Millennium series hasn't provided the judging crew with anything to test this, the Millennium Judges refuse to deal with this problem.

I suggest that if two refs agree that without doubt a gun is shooting faster than 15 bps, the player should be pulled, and banned.

why do you need to 'prove it' with a device, when you can hear it?

Otherwise the Tontons will keep cheating and winning. It makes a mockery of the whole millennium series.

On another note, i really dont think it's fair to slam the French for the behavior of the Tontons. There were many excellent french teams there this weekend who played very fair, and very well.

On another note, some of the best judging i have ever seen, was demonstrated consistently by french judges on the Millennium field this weekend.

- Because refs are not accountable for their descisions, opening the door to bias and ill spirited calls.

- Because many refs have no clue what 15 or 18 BPS sounds like, opening the door to many wrong calls.

I'm fne with us making rules that require a lot of knowledge and training of the reffing corps - but if that knowledge is not there and the training is not done, we end up in a situation where were are punishing a bunch of innocents, to catch a few culprits.

I firmly believe the gun rules should be adhered to, not least for reasons of safety, but writing the rules is not enough... the reffing corps has to be able to enforce them in a fair and informed manner.... and we are not there yet!

The MS should invest in MORE technology to be used on field, so that BPS ramping, and ESPECIALLY velocity ramping, got caught...

In this situation with the Ton Tons where the judges are seemingly powerless to act due to various reasons, none of which are their own fault, I am considering another option.

I honestly don't think I want my guys playing them again for various reasons, the Ton Tons in my opinion have and use designer cheat guns that not only have the ability to fire over 15 bps but also more alarmingly, and more dangerously, fire above 300 fps.
I don't want my guys put in danger, I don't wanna be put in a position where my control of temper is tested again and I don't wanna be cheated out of a finals place again, I am sick and tired of this cheating scum.
I am seriously thinking of refusing to play them again no matter what stage of any future event I meet them.
I will have to consider it some more because this stance could cost me and my guys dear but something has to be done and I will not watch my Nexus guys being physically hurt and cheated out of their just results again.

If a few other teams wanna take the same stance as me, then it makes my position that much easier and more poignant for obvious reasons, but if I decide to do it and I am out there on my own, then I will do it but I don't think that is gonna be the case.

This team has to be bought to its knees coz sure as ****, the judges can't do it, the rulebook as it stands is unenforceable and all this does is allow cheating-ass mofos to flourish.

How the hell do I turn round to my guys on the Monday morning after they are sitting in fifth place and the Ton Tons are in the finals and tell them to practice, practice, practice when it's all undone by a frikkin chip in some scum's marker?
Where the frikkin hell is the justice in that ?
Where the hell do my guys now get their motivation, from a piece of programming ?
If that happens, see ya later alligator !!!!

This is madness, it undermines my guys resolve to commit and dedicate themselves to this sport when this sh!t happens in our own back yard with all the judges and spectators looking on.

I watched my guys come off the field after playing them, I watched the Tigers come off the field after they had played against them, I could see it in both team's faces, everybody knew what had gone down and yet felt powerless.
No more !!!!!

As I said on these boards last week, currently, tournament Paintball is a joke...your and Nick's posts underline that fact even further.

Anyone who thinks that they are taking part in a sporting contest at a Millennium or NPPL event is deluding themselves.
