Nick, I think I have already explained why I don't wanna do that, after all, you are eminently better placed to spearhead this than myself :)

What if someone offered you a board for, say $50, that was readable, and a device that you could plug into the board and verify it was, indeed, one of the readable boards, for say, $100-200?

Would you be willing to REQUIRE that everyone used it?

????? ...............and your point?
my point is that both ton ton and nexus will play against each other, as i don't see 2 big pro teams refusing officially to play against each other, especially during a MS or other big serie tournament.

And I don't wanna see my players injured......you can no doubt work out for yourself what my priorities are.
In San Diego, I made as sure as I could they would not use their velocity ramping, I can do no such thing in the Millennium.

Robbo you mention investing in technology to catch a velocity ramping gun. Can't we just use a chrony. I mean one can't choose when a mode will kick in so just get some of those hand held chronies and stick em under the barrel when the gun is cycling full speed and check the velocity. Do this a bunch of times during a game and you should see if the velocity has gone up. Have the refs been running these kinds of checks? I know it sounds stupid but checking the velocity is alot easier than trying to determine how many balls a second a marker is shooting. We have the necessary technology.

The problem with that is that these modes seem to have the ability to be switched off either by just stopping firing or by holding the trigger or something.

I saw a lot of this in Birmingham, when a marshal went over with the chrono, the player would move his marker away, usually by moving to the other side of the bunker or something.

Now I understand that marshalling shouldn't get in the way of a match, but players just seem more suspicious to me when they purposely move away from the marshal when he's about the chrono them

That doesn't necessarily mean they are cheats - it just means "I'm a dumb paintball player who doesn't really know my equipment all that well - so why run the risk of one shot being 301 and getting thrown out of the game" ;)

As for the old handheld chronos being used - any player who is cheating intentionally will NEVER get caught with one of them.... they'll just stop firing and seem to be busy communicating, loading or whatever, until the ref gets bored and decides against doing the check.

The ONLY thing that will work, as is also the case with ROF ramping, is a device that refs can use without getting in the players face, because you catch the real cheats when they don't know they are being watched.
