Dude, I'm a specator these days. I want good stuff to watch, so I'm all for this EXL/NXL/Premier league thang, as there will always be a good game to watch without having to walk too far!

But NPPL certainly doesn't look dull to me, and the finals at Campaign was some of the most exciting stuff I've ever seen! I look forward to the change, but I can fully understand why some teams don't look too fondly upon it.

AFAIK the EXL, like the NXL, is a locked league and there will be no promotion or relegation.

Whether the board decides to open it up to include more teams depends on how this season goes, what TV/Dick Clarke/Richmond/the board decides is best, etc.

I'm really surprised at the amount of negativity being chucked about here - I'm all for hammering the Mill. when they deserve it, but in this instance I think they've made quite a bold move that could do great things for European Paintball. I don't agree with all the changes personally, and I really feel for Hardcore, but overall I think the Mill. have made a ballsy decision.

Just my 2p's worth.
I think the EXL thing is ok, and definitely for the teams that are in.
Concerning who`s in and who`s not, no matter how they did it, one or to teams would have been upset!

But aside from that, my concern (and this is, like most of the other posters, because i`m in the middle of it), is why they had to leave the other pro bracket with just 4 events. (And yes Sjt.19 i know there`s such thing as NPPL)

And in these events they are going to play a format that are not regular 7 man or X-ball? What`s up with that!

I think you would have heard a lot less negativity, if they had the EXL , and kept on having the Premier league playing regular 7 mann, and that thru all 8 millenium series.

The new format is that for us to adapt to X-ball? I mean basically it `s just 4 games back to back against the same team. And that they can do in the finals (best of 3)
You can`t compare this mambojambo format to X-ball! The whole points setup and the 4 game thing, don`t give you the opportunity`s when it comes to strategy and coaching as X-ball do.

Frank Vallée - Who is still confused about where to play next year!

As for point 3, I think the main reason is not give Pro teams a choice between EXL or Premier League, as some might then think it better to focus on just one format and play it at all 8 events.

Hei Nick.. Did not see your answer before the abowe posting, but anyway:

Could`nt it just be like if you commit to play EXL, then you dont get to play the Premier leaugue in the millenium series!
You still get the best promotion probably.
Everybody is saying that the EXL is the top of the pops, so i cant see why anybody should drop out of the EXL to play premier league.
And if someone want to do that, i guess at least Hardcore is knocking on the EXL door!

Also the "Top" EXL teams are the the ones that have been going overseas to play, and they probably will keep up with that, so it`s not like they are stuck with 4 events...

Inter-divisional play

The score for next season is that EXL play amongst themselves, only Pros play Pros in the premier league, while Div 1, 2 & 3 will all play a mix of teams...

DIII: Rookie. You get a year, then you can't play there anymore.

DII: Catch-all for everybody else.

All forcing teams to start out in DIII will accomplish is letting whatever latest incarnation of a US pro team come over and finance their trip by stealing the DIII prizes from legitimate new European teams.

Unless Millenium has decided they don't want a division for new teams anymore, in which case, carry on.
Amen!

I think that personally Xball is going to be the future of the sport. I think that the fact that it is fast paced, exciting and coducive to television viewing will mean that it will be the successful format. As such i think that you will see a lot of the EXL teams choosing to solely concentrate on the EXL, and only play Xball. It would make sense to focus on one medium, as to train for two formats would only weaken the team as a whole. I would imagine that Toulouse or Campaign (whichever is not an Xball event) will be the only Millennium Event outside the EXL events that will host many of the EXL teams.

I dunno - Strange, Dynasty, Dogs and Miami did well at both formats.

I would expect to see both Nexus teams joining forces for the EXL, with Nexus also playing some NPPLs and Nexus Eclipse playing the other four Millenniums in the 7-Man Pro League.

I'd guess Joy, Tontons and RL will do similar.

True, but they have resources far greater than any Euro team does. And they have far more weekly time alloted to training schedules and team meets do they not? Miami only played Toulouse, and as such cant rerally be used in a comparrison. And Dynasty, Dogs and Strange did not play all of the NPPL and Div 1 xball. Strange only played Miami in the NPPL and Dynasty only played Xball at Worlds Cup didnt they?

If only there was a US team that had played every NPPL as Pro, and then every Div 1 Xball.....but maybe there is a good reason for that not having occured (politics aside obviously)
