NXL FA...official anytime soon?

hey good point. Since we are discussing the use of full auto in the NXL i should have been more comcerned about the Euro point of view, since all the NXL teams play so many games in Europe. How very foolish of me. Thanks for the lesson Broz. (Hope you can detect the sarcasm I laid in on pretty thick, my early christmas present to you guy.)

Self evidently I don't Nick, I try not to post things as my opinion if I know them to be untrue !!!!!

You have chosen to look at one side of the coin for the sake of stating I have contradicted myself....I haven't at all.

If the area of agrressive paintball can be contracted to just those people who start to hose; then getting their ass moving behind a stream of paint may well increase opportunities but paintball cannot be reduced to that.
If streams of full auto paint are reigning in then it will DETER movement from those on the receiving end of it.
It may well lubricate those who are aggressive inasmuch as they can start moving behind it but as you well know, there are more teams who will prefer to just sit and hose rather than actually gettin up off of their ass and moving behind their paint.

As for Dave Copsey?
He is begining his trial period with Nexus and is a welcome acquisition for the team :)

Zoinks yo, when I read the thread title I automatically assumed that the discussion would be about NXL FA....official anytime soon. I didn't mean to get you euro cats so riled up. Besides, after all the mess your spewing about the demise of the nxl in other threads why do you really care?

GK, any mess that may be spewing outa the mouths of some of us Euros was only put on the plate by you Yanks.
And as to why we care, well, if you didn't know already we had the EXL running off the back of the NXL and what affetcs the NXL, directly affects all of us involved in the EXL.

And if you don't see the Miami players all naffin off, the opening up of the NXL player base to go play NPPL, no formal announcements on timeframes or income streams and no information of 2005 TV schedules as things that might possibly indicate a demise then you my friend, need to open yer eyes a little more.
Just a thought !

As soon as SP patents "TV production" they will sue DCP and as they now own 25% of the NXL franchises their piece of the litigation pie will be that much larger. Pure genius!

Or perhaps they are planning a "Fight Club" marketing strategy. Strictly underground, word of mouth, friend to friend. Meanwhile they will be secretly taping the whole thing--teams making vanity soaps outta used paintballs--and then sell the tapes on cable television as "Ballers gone wild!"

Or maybe not.

Thanks for the reality check guys. For real, no sarcasm this time. But that was really sort of my point. If every body sees the imminent demise of theNXL, why are they worried about rules changes to a league they don't play in, and quite possibly won't exist for much longer?

CBL, I think the ballers gone wild tapes already exist.

EDIT ADDED: (C?)BL, et tu, G-K? Another brilliant idea down the drain. *sigh*

Aaron raised the main point for me.

No insurance company would sanction FA in paintball. Period.

Having a WAAAY higher chance of barrel condoms shooting off, multiple accidental discharges etc is one thing. But when it happens, the event should at least have insurance to cover thier own rulings. Personally I would not enter the event until the organisers publish thier public liability insurance details for all to see. Without that I think anyone entering is simply barmy!

Someone said that there would have to be a better kind of barrel blocking device, and they are right, but where is this coming from?
Is it designed or in manufature?
Does anyone think that they will be supplied to the teams for the next event?
Does anyone think that this change of Barrel blocking device will be enforced by a league renown for not enforcing rules?
Does anyone think the pit crew will wear goggles?
I have been in the pits and it is more dangerous in there than standing naked behind your bunker...

No insurance - Its amazing - If you told your mothers they would tell you not to be so stupid as to risk your eye's for nothing, and they would be right.
Anyone stupid enough to run with this deserves what they get, although I hope you all stay safe, because you sure are not going to have any recourse, compensation, or anyone else to blame if the worst happens.

Still can't believe it - holy crap!

there was one more thing.

I keep reading the following (or versions of it)

'X-ball is the format for TV'
'X-ball is TV friendly'
etc.

How do you know this?
fact - X-ball has never been filmed.
fact - No-one has ever watched X-ball on TV.
plus - The TV deal they thought they had looks like not happening.

What therefore are you basing your statements on?
Gut instinct?
Tarot cards?
NXL press releases?

Just thought I would ask the question....

I must admit I find it staggering that noone at the NXL has set-up an exhibition style match (e.g. Russia Vs USA) and filmed it as a presentation for media including all fancy titles, score headers, mock trailers, commentary etc

In the months gone by I had just assumed they hadn't bothered as they had already nailed the deal and were shortly to start filming on the 'real' league. But with the absence of such a deal, it makes the lack of this type of 'sales pitch' all the more puzzling!

If the DC thing goes tits up, at least a quality DVD production of what 'could be' (or couldn't if it's poo) would help push the product to other producers...

The color and subtlety of that euphemism are what make it one of the best lines ever... I crack up everytime I hear someone say it.
