In all the countries where the NXL is played, however, it would be legal.:)

It seems like they should rename the NXL the "Guinea Pig League".

I am very interested to see how it turns out. I am going to Pittsburgh (or wherever the next PSP is) so if it happens fast enough, I will see first hand. I don't think that play would change that much. In any case, the skill we're talking about is not the one most beneficial to spectators. Freeing up brain and attention for more spectacular abilities may be good for the crowd.

As far as capitulating on rules enforcement, velocity is easier to manage than shot adders, isn't it? I don't know how slippery this slope is, Robbo. The 300 fps rule has been around and technology and custom have had a lot of time to make enforcement more reliable. Maybe bounce and cheat mode enforcement will catch up soon, but it seems like the NXL wasn't leading the charge anyhow.

As for the barrel bag scenario, I feel that with full auto guns in the open, there is clear incentive to improve barrel blocking devices. That could be the silver lining.

License to paint

you got me with that ;) (BTW How is the Pool ? cartoon joke ;) hehehe ) But I think it is a diferent level the change from Pump to SA than from SA to FA.
The skill will be when to spend paint or not even so sounds weird....

I know that in the States FA is legal but then they get a format only for USA? Could be interesting but seems weird. Everyone should push in the same direction if we want more for our sport...

I know who will be happy with FA... Paint Sponsors!!!

Also if they change that to it I would really like to see some improvement in chrono technology that could be easily applyed measuring FPS for a string of paintballs .

And hw about the electronic cheats? Velocity ramping cheats will be sought? and if 15BPS is max why don't cheaters increase this on field?

How well only time will tell....

The games are full of fast agressive action already and we see the Russians mowing like mad while running as well as many others.

Why is it we want to make it easier for people? I thought sports was about challenging yourself and working hard to progress. Why would anybody want to make it easier. I think Full auto is the dumbest suggestion that I have ever heard and I haven't heard a good argument yet in favour of it. Plus its dangerous.

And I agree that the NXL are a bunch of push overs. I can't stop people cheating so I make it legal. I can't stop crime so you can do whatever you want.

OK, I'll throw a handful of arguments out...

1. They can't stop cheating - it ain't about will, it simply is not possible at this juncture, nor is tha will particularly there in tha industry to do it. Therefore, to try and create a level playing field they are allowing FA. And anyone who thinks tha NXL players aren't already shooting FA over 15 BPS is on drugs. And I don't see tha new 15BPS limit hanging round for long

2. Shooting fast is not a skill - or rather, not one an audience would care about. Movement and athleticism are - who cares how fast a guy can wiggle his finger - it's a one-way ticket to geeksville and at tha moment it allows no game fat guys to keep their place ahead of young athletes who'd rather run, mug and dive than spend hours dry firing and annoying tha **** outta everyone. Y'know, I remember players who could pump fast saying tha same thing...

3. Tha viewing public, if it comes, is gonna want to see people getting annihilated - coming off that field dripping man, totally dripping. One small splat on a guy's boot ain't gonna cut it.

Protectice gear will improve, helmets and body armor will be de rigeur - it'll get more extreme man...ain't that what everyone's shouting for?
