Not saying that I'm pro FA, but just had to react to this.
In ALL sports people are constantly working to make things easier. Think of the "sharkskinned" suit for swimmers, that weird folding skate for speedskaters. Formula one techs are constantly working on ways to make it easy for their drivers to drive faster than ever, and so on, and so on, and so on. I've never seen anybody shackle a lead ball to a runner's leg, just because it would otherwise be too easy to run fast.

So why not in paintball?

Not true. Golf doesnt allow clubs to improve beyond a certain point. I have a putter design that is fantastic. It is not allowed, because it makes putting straight to easy. It depends on how much the equipment improves performance and on the sport.

Anyways, y'all hear about tha guy at tha last xspl? Played maybe 8 games with his gun, then someone complained after his last game, gun got pulled, couple a shots and then boom - FA. Rookie team.

It's everywhere man, everywhere...genie is outta tha bottle and he ain't going back in.

I think that the shark skin suits or that weird folding skate are technological improvements equivalent to the electro pneumatic evolution in paintball. In a way electronics have made paintball easier in certain aspects but have also made it harder in others and have enhanced performance. The sport is young and these are things that are going to appear until we reach a certain limit..... But to come back to swimming or skating, these improvements don't make the sport any easier. You still need to push as hard as you can on your legs and arms to move as fast as you can, so the effort is not reduced, it just enhances the performances. I think that running and shooting with a semi is harder that with an FA. Maybe I'm wrong...

I don't know anyone that can't walk a trigger and for those really uncoordinated people all I can say is sorry. :D But it just takes a little practice to develop the right muscles and coordination in your fingers. You don't have to dry fire and annoy everybody (damn I hate that :D), you can practice tapping on a table, sterring wheel etc......

And I can't believe some teams are leaving young aggressive players on the bench because they can't walk the trigger as fast as another guy in this case a big guy that can't move. What are we talking about a 2 or 3 ball difference.... thats a bit dodgy. And I think those teams will see that they gain a far greater advantage with young back players that can move up field. Any way if you know how to snapshoot you will end up gaining advantage on your opponent and its not a 2 or 3 balls more or less sailing past your obastacle that are going to make a difference. 10 or 15 balls sailing centimeters away from your obstacle are going to keep you from popping your head out.

And honestly it sounds dangerous. Maybe it's something we should leave to the pros.... but I don't like.

How are they going to measure rof... will it be the time between two shots? or the number of shots in a set period of time...

And why do they think the teams will stick to a set rof?

If they couldn't catch them cheating before why would they be able to catch them cheating the ROF when using FA?

Also will the teams be happy for their rof to be limited lower than they were achieving before in illegal semi modes...

And the biggest question that pisses me off... how unfair is it to the Euro teams (and Russkies in particular) that they will be travelling over to play in a whole different way come world cup.

1. With you all tha way on that good buddy - if you're gonna lose your cherry, lose it properly. FA is FA - capped FA is not gonna happen.

2. That is based on tha fact that tha EXL/NXL thang is still gonna happen - anyone heard hide or hair bout that?

Bear in mind omma Lambini could have got it wrong...but...

Sorry buddy, that just proves my point. The fact that this putter exists means that people are looking to make the game easier to play. The fact that it's outlawed doesn't contradict that. Obviously any and all new invention has to be approved by the appropriate bodies, in the same way it happens in paintball. For instance, shooting over 300fps makes it easier to hit someone, but that is against what is allowed.

Again, I'm not saying I'm pro FA. Just saying that people and companies will always try to come up with things that will give their product the edge. GPS guided paintballs will be next. ;)
I have no problem with FA being banned, but so far I have heard very few valid reasons for banning it...

1) Makes no sense at all. Those inventions I mentioned actually made things easier. With the suit drag is reduced, therefore it is easier to swim faster. It even made the impossible possible! People could swim faster than they normally could! yes, you still have to put the effort in, but if you want to put up the same numbers you did without the suit, you don't have to put in as much effort as you did without the suit. If you do put the effort in, you get even better result, therefore it made swimming easier. Same applies for the skate.
2) Yes running and shooting with a semi will be harder than with FA. But staying alive is easier if everybody shoots semi. So while it makes things easier on some points, it makes things harder someplace else.
3) No argument there.
4) What sounds more dangerous? 15BPS at FA, or 18BPS at semi as seems to be the norm now?

Honestly, just playing a little devil's advocate here, but I have yet to hear any GOOD reasons to vote against it. Even that safety outside the field thing, with guns ripping through barrel socks at first sounded legit, but all that takes is a new design of barrel sock. An investment of a few dollars... As far as pit crew goes, it makes no sense that they can walk around with no masks now, so it shouldn't be allowed then either.
