BAD TO THE BONE

It will also stop people deliberately playing on as they know that no matter they're still going to get 141'd
I dont think it'll make a blind bit of difference.
I think that the better standard player will weigh up the odds that as long as they stay in the game and possibly take 1-2 players with them before they are found out.
It's a risk worth taking.

Now here's the Rub. Could that player now argue that he can only be 1-4-1nd ?.

So, the better standard player, is the player that would deliberately play on?

Hi i don't often reply to these forums but this this one i have to the start or the thread i was that person mentioned running to the back corner when i felt a hit on the arm, i was only three steps away so carried on and got myself safe and looked where i had felt the hit (yes there was this big lump of paint) shot on the break well it happens
I then put my hand on my head and walked back to the dead box
I hadn't been in the game for more than 10 secs
I had not repeat not fired my marker at all, i didn't call for a paint check as it was a bit obvious, only to find out that another had been 1 4 1 for me so say playing on ( i might add there were no marshalls anywhere near me anyway,to see it so i walked like any body should do
after the game had finished i did complain to a marshall and showed him my full to the brim hopper
But the game was over so as we say the reff's decision is final
i am not knocking the ref at all, as i have reffed millienum series and know how difficult it can be at times as you will always upset one player and a friend for life the other, even if the call is good or bad
as long as every body has read the rule book then there can be no complaining
as for the two shirts rule on one field it does state in the rule book if it has been declared under 10 degrees then three layers can be worn, don't know about you but i was freezing all day
mind you nothing about your tops having to be tucked inside your pants was said
i could carry on about dropping your battle pack and carrying on to win the game with just your marker and yes it did happen in one game i watched, if your over 6 feet from any equipment you carry onto the field except pots and squegges then your declared dead
to sum up the rules are there to help you play safely and fairley and have a good time
most of them are good and some of them if taken to the letter of the law really suck IE the 1 4 1 rule on unobvious hits as on the battle pack
Isn't it down to pure comman sence by the marshall and people playing fairly and reading the rule book before the start of the season
But in all fairness all i heard was moans about the way some of the marshalling was carried out
I am sure this thread will go on and on till the end of the season

Ralph, unlike Missy I do know who you are, and I have great respect for you and your judging experience.

BUT.

In this case, I think you are taking an "old-school" approach to the modern game - even three or four years ago, there was more respect for Refs and a "judges call"-type rule wasn't a recipe for arguing and blatent cheating.

Today the game moves faster than ever before and the Judges are younger and less experienced.
A player that has been hit, even if he/she is just sitting in his/her bunker and not shooting IS having an direct influence on the game - that bunker is a threat and has to be dealt with accordingly, hell you know of certain players/teams who took great pride in sitting motionless in a bunker with one or more hits on them - not "Playing-on" but most certainly affecting the other team in terms of movement and fire-lanes open to them, then calmly walking when the ref (eventually) gets to them to pull them out.

The whole 1-4-1 for being hit on the pack thing MAY SEEM harsh, but that's only because players have gotten used to "unobvious hits" and the latitude afforded to them by that rule.
The NXL introduced this rule a year or two ago (Baca can probably correct mme on this) and it was commented at the time (probably by Baca :p) that "all of a sudden" players were aware of hits on their packs/pods/guns/loaders that previously they swore blind they never felt/heard!
End of the day, a player shot shouldn't be in the game - if they cannot control their adrenalin rush/tunnel vision enough to be aware of when paint is being shot at them, then that is THIER lookout, why should they be "allowed for" in the rules? By that kind of arguement, shouldn't fat/slow/old players have a ten yard headstart at the break?

Oh, and in parting:
