Lets not forget the reason for the rule, " To return balance to the game". In short, to stop cheating. Therefore everyone 141'd in a sense is a cheat. I personaly don't want to branded that way for not feeling a clip on my pack. I know the rule on paper is simple, but life isn't black and white. Grey areas do exsist, and this is were marshall discretion should come in.
How often do you hear that the marshal on the field made a bad call, and that they were bias because they play/played for the other team involved? Well, remove marshall discretion and you remove any chance of bias. Rules should be in black and white, especially if you do want paintball to develop into an actual sport.
People really need to get out of the frame of mind that this rule is aimed at punishing individuals, it's not, it's aimed at redressing the balance of the game.
Someone mentioned earlier a scenario where someone was hit in the pack on the way to their first bunker and them getting 141'd would be unfair as they werent even in the game long enough to influence it. But, look at it from the other team's point of view, they've legitimately eliminated the player, the player is now at his first bunker, gun up and shooting. He's preventing your team from making moves that the elimination should have opened up for your team. The 141 redresses this.
I dont see a problem with the rule and I certainly wont be complaining if i get pulled for it at some point. As long as it's implemented in a consistant way it will be fair. It will also stop people deliberately playing on as they know that no matter how well they pretend they didn't know about the hit, they're still going to get 141'd
