NSPL 19.03.06 - The STUPID new 141 Rule

Ok mate, for future posts like this can I suggest that you skillfully remove all references to teams, tournaments and even countries ;) That way it would just be a disscussion about the somewhat annoying 141 rule as opposed to a chance for lots of people to jump on the back of a well run, well established and fair tournament series. :)

Understand what you were trying to do, just not the best way around it :)

I would just like to point out that the purpose of my origional post was to insight a disscussion on the new 141 rule, on weather it is good or bad and does the quality of the marshaling effect this. The case examples used (which i still feel the same about) were mearly tools to aid the disscussion. I have spoken to Syd about this matter at lengh, and we have both come to satisfactory conclusions. The post was not set up for the purpose to air general negative feedback about the NSPL.

Having a word with Syd was probably the right thing to do just to let him know that you dont hold him personally responsible.

Here's the dilemma as far as i see it

Player's still on the field after commiting an infraction of the rules 'COULD' influence the outcome of the game.

Refs Auto 1-4-1ing every infraction 'WILL' influence the outcome of the game.

There has got to be a balance somewhere

This is a completely separate issue and you know nothing about how it was delt with. It seems that you are just throwing this in to back up the rest of your complaints and that is not justified. I will happily explain the situation and the reasons behind my decision to anyone who wants to know, but not here as I would like to focus on your own experiences and complaints. Let me just say that asking for a replay is not an easy thing to decide, but in this instance absolutely seemed the right thing to do from a neutral organisers point of view. Don't slate me because I have the balls to stand by my convictions.

oh come on guys u know when your hit on the hopper and on the pack. you can feel it on your pack and hear it on your hopper.
I think its a good rule, playing on was one of the worst cheats in the game, now somethings being done about it.
One thing that will have to happen in all leagues is that bunkers and areas around will have to be cleaned between games if the rule is going to work fairly,so there is no doubt where the paint on u came from.

So what your are saying; is that from the breakout you run to the left back bunker. On the way there, you get clipped from the right hand side on the back of your pack. You get to you bunker Ref comes round not only does he take you arm band (fair do's)but go's running off to 1-4-1 your team mate.
Lets increase it the same thing happens to your team mate going to the back right hand bunker and another Ref pulls a 1-4-1. You've now lost 4 players in the first 10 seconds of the game and that's a fair reflection of whats actually happened:confused:

i see what your saying, but the ref needs to use his head, tell the player he's hit as soon as he reaches his bunker (if seen on way in) the player wont play on therefore no 1-4-1. if not seen on way in by a ref,and plays on then he's playing on 1-4-1. Asking for a paint check before you carry on playing if your not 100% sure your clean.
Just because you've not noticed being hit doesnt mean they guy thats hit you didnt see it and we all know how much it pisses us off when someone plays on.

That's my whole point with this new rule the Ref is not allowed to use their judgement and make a decision. They have no other choice than to 1-4-1 as it is a Rule. Lets not get confused here if they are playing on, 1-4-1 them i dont have a problem with that but there are times (albeit few) when it is simply not nessesary

The marshalls were diligently removing paint off both sides of bunkers between games on Sunday.

Ralph - your example above would be a ref's misinterpretation of the rule and a mistake on their part.

In your example, the player is allowed to keep running to his bunker in order to check himself or call for a check. If he runs there and starts shooting before making any sign of checking himself he then gets 1-4-1ed.

The slight grey area at the moment is - if he runs in, checks himself, doesn't find any paint and then fires should he then be 1-4-1ed.
