Im not the one making the decisions , but I believe that Jean Manuel is still the right one for this job. He has definetely good ideas and IF it was a mistake to change the rules (did they REALLY change?!) and he accepts it as a mistake, than Im sure, that this is not going to happen to him again.
And thats more than you can expect from most (new) others...
I strongly believe that he still is the one you want to have in this position.
The main problem on the whole issue was, that there was a chronoing after the game with a hotgun from the tontons, but there should not be a chronoing after the end of the game anyway, cause on the captainsmeeting was said, that there isnt.
Now we had the hotgun. On the other hand there was the decision not to chrono after the end of the game.
And at this time the decision was made to give penalties to the tontons acyd. Because if these penalties werent given -> everybody would say that the tontons took advantage and things like that.
And this is where the mistake happend. To have a fair tournament, the decision was made to chrono at the and of all games... and this is where the **** hit the fan.
The rule "up to 305fps > 10 penalty points ; above 305fps -> 50 penalty points) is not only new to the millennium rules, it is crazy, because we dont want anyone getting afert the game. We just want to have pre game chronoing to make clear, that the markers are "safe" and shooting less than 300fps. And in-game-chronoing to catch all the technic freaks which increase (and finally decrease) the velocity of their marker..
So it was totaklly unnecessary. It must have been a technical mistake, that this paragraph got into the rulebook (in my opinion).
On the other hand all of us know the (old) penalty rule (up to 305fps > 10 penalty points ; above 305fps -> 2 penalty points per foot with a maximum of 50 penalty points) ..
So because the rule inside the book was a (technical) mistake the old and everywhere known one was taken. Instead of this it would have been better not to give any penalty points at all, cause that was said on the captains meeting ... thats true. And thats the (bad) mistake.
