although sparklie does pay a fair wage why not give the marshalls an incentive to put in that little bit extra effort
if every team was to put in £5 at the start of the day as a prize for the field that had been voted by the players as the best marshalled on the day
it would give the marshalls a thanks from the players and most importantly it may encourage marshalls to be more enthusiastic
at the end of the day they would probably preffer to be playing and if they didn't marshall you all wouldn't be playing
i'm not trying to deffend the marshalls just trying to make things better

BAD TO THE BONE
Twizz mate, you have got to get rid of this persecution complex:rolleyes:

Your guns were brought to my attention and to the best of my knowlege the matter was resolved to my- yours and an emminent chony/gun spec boffin's satisfaction.

Having said that if you are playing the next legs i would recommend that the markers are M25 spec, as this is not the millenium series and i have no wish to doubt that the guns were set up exactly the same way for the millenium series but i was not at amsterdam so have no way of verifying it :D

Duffy mate i had the guns checked by someone who knows about these things. They could not make it infinge the rules and i watched the game and the player can put some paint out with one of them. It was then re-checked at the end and still it could not be made to infringe.

BAD TO THE BONE
Another M25 marshals report, like the one i did last time will be posted as when i have time and had a mull over what has been said on the day and via the boards.

I warn you now, most of you wont read most of it and those that do, most wont take on board what i have to say and those that do will take it personally.

Till then keep posting

Regards Ralph

Fair play Mr S - thanks for following it up for us.

All I can say - and I'm sure all the Campaign players, Sharks, Mr Sosta and assorted other players who watched these markers would agree with me - is that they appeared to be firing an awful lot faster than the guys were pulling the triggers..shows what we know.

well sjt i agree

hello people as a spectator on the day i was very concerned with the quality of marshalling on the day also i must apologise in advance if i annoy anyone,

but of all the games i watched of the dogs(residue dogs) i saw some bad decision's go either way and as sjt was saying at the start of this thread it is of course very annoying when u have to wait 30/40 secs just for a hit check!!

and then there's also having one of our back players one for oned due to over aggressive play even though the reasoning behind this was the team in question had one player left and he began to walk drudgedly from his barracade with his armband still on towards the dead zone our player gave him a couple of extra balls due to not knowing whether the player was still in the game or not and was told 141 which was for over aggressive play even though these players where both back men so the impact could not have been that bad.have the marshall's never heard of deadman's walk like,

anyway gordon the man who called himself out sjt on field 2 is one of the most honest players on the tourney scene i can vouch 4 that.

we marshalled field 2 at dunstable and found that certain people liked the field set up and the marshalling and others didn't so like so many others have said b4 ,

its a funny old game innit?????????????????

p.s. everything i said was meant in no way to disrespect the marshall's on the day i just think they need a bit more confidence and movement thats all.

c u all in the middle if i get that far???

pesonally i think the marshals done a brill job ,i would not have liked to have been on them fields all day .Yes we had some bad calls and i had seen some bad calls made as well ,but over all the marshals worked hard in temps of up to 33c .And besides with OUT the marshals none of us would have been there !!!!!

Its ironic to hate haters but I do...

I began to notice yesterday that many of the moaning players were also no game suckers, looking for someone to blame for their mistakes. There were also players who did have valid reasons to get upset, there were some bad call(s) made that may have affected the outcome of 3 games played on our field. Appologies were made to the relevant teams at the time and our best was done to limit the damage to the teams score.
On the other hand however, the vast majority of players saw us do a good job.
Funnily enough, the more aggressive, pro vs pro games were easier to judge because the players actually bothered to acknowledge judge signals, calls and showed some respect. I lost count of the amount of players who blatently ignored neutral signals, only to 'kick off' when the neutral player was wiped down.
Uncle Fester, I dunno if your mother held you enough as a child but you seem to have allot of hate, this isnt SmackTalk, theres no need to come on here and go hating. Im guessing your team was in one of those 3 I previously mentioned, the appology was made on the day. If you were even half a sportsman you would accept the rough with the smooth, the amount of times I or my team has been affected by another team due to bad calls in recent months I don't care to count. I don't come on here like some hating 14yr old kid and go on about it, we just suck it up and keep practising.
The posts by PSK1 (who was playing for Shock pro in a very heated last game against Ecstacy) and Sam from Shock AM tell a very different story.
At the end of the day judges are human, add exhaustion and things will never be perfect.
We kept a better schedual than all other fields, the vast majority of players/teams were happy with us and a pleasure to marshal, even Shockwave;) ;)

Thanks to PSK1 and Sam for their support and everone else who praised our efforts on the day.

btw I can only speak for the SP field as I didn't know any of the other judges or see them judge all day...

Fester i assume you play for storm pro the game i watched between storm and ectasy on the smart parts field was a complete joke your guy on the second line 50 was clearly shot on the neck (no neck protector must of felt it) what did he do ? walk off the field, no he carried on playing for approximatly 2 minuits before it was noticed and he was pulled.
What did your captain do when you lost, moan and bitch about fair play and injustice, you lost and deserved to in my oppion.
marshalling is tough espeicially in those sort of conditions think you can do better step up to the plate

The event was great lovely weather just abit too hot for ideal play/marshalling but we would of complained if it had been raining!

My only prob was that SOME of the marshals that volunteered to be paid for a days work could not be bothered to be part of the game. i saw one on quite a few occassions standing on the tape leaning against the netting inspecting his new Nike trainers. And for that marshal and the others in his group the excuse of its too hot/cold don't hold any water coz i've seen them marshal b4 in much more appropriate weather and they were lazy then and were lazy yesterday... their attitude is wrong!

There were other occasions when one out of two teams on the field did not hear the game on... 3,2,1 is not enough to time to start a game....

also EVERY marshal on the field at the start of a game should have his/her arm up in the air from the 10 second count down... and drop it the moment game on is SHOUTED! this will ensure smooth starts and the best quality of play.

Thank you to every marshal and player (except the ones that cheated!) and to Sparklie. I still had a great day and wish there was more than one M25 a month and that it went on for longer than 6 rounds. Lets use this thread as a means to improve this already fantastic series..

Neil

p.s Sparklie if your reading (which you probally are), maybe if you have a quality controller who spot checks fields from the side lines on if they are chronoing people, starting games corectly etc it could iron out the inconsisties and then at least by the end of the day every body will be singing from the same hymn book... and if you need a hand with that you only have to ask...

:)
