why do you need to see a players face? You can't see a players face in football, and they do just fine.

The paint being hard to see I agree with, but players being hard to recognize? I doubt the sport will succeed or fail because you can't see Billy Gardner's face while he's playing. Names on the back of jerseys should be all the ID you need, if the TV coverage is done right.

Agreed, look at the American football players, some of them wear helmets with tinted visors so you can't see their faces, they don't have a problem with that.
What might need to be enforced is a squad number system like most team sports, or maybe even a unique number for each player registered at the beginning of the season. Can you imagine the bitching over who gets number1, 13, 69 etc.....

But what they should do, and this isn't even to do with any TV, is number the marshals, they do it in the NFL and if a judge gets a lot of bad response from crowd, viewers, or match organisers, he is dropped for the next match, this would make judges more responsible for any calls they make, and encourage a more proffessional attitude.
I've only had experience of one or two American judges this year, but the main guy I did run into, Boogie, makes himself very visible to players and public and backs that up with some great marshalling.

Then would you be so kind as to direct me to exactly where you have written about it before.... because for the life of me, I can't think of anywhere on this site where you have mentioned this context before.
I of course could be wrong and can't wait for you to prove it, so please show me :)
This is your big chance Nick, don't waste it mate.

Agreed about the numbers on players jerseys. it would also make it easier for referees to call a player out who starts to run (but that's another discussion). FYI NPPL refs have had numbered jerseys since Huntington Beach this year.

I agree I don't think goggles will be changing that much in the near future. It's not a problem if you can't see the guys face, if you can still identify him by the name on his shirt or maybe a name on his goggles or gun (one reason I made that huge cut out down the RL gun was to try and persuade them to put their names there so people could get to know who was who in the pictures).

It's easy to put names onto goggles or similar if required.

Also when we do adverts we purposely use goggles and dark/mirrored lenses so that anyone reading or seeing the picture can imagine it's themselves. Apparently (marketing tell me) they get better response to adverts when you can't see who it is behind the mask...

Everyone wants to think it could be them.
