I dont think that there is any need for an apology regarding what has been said in the thread. I have seen far worse from many people on these forums.

I think that what Nick is unhappy about is what he perceives to be someone altering his user account which from his point of view is totally out of order. I have had that done in the past, and have just taken it as a joke, which i am sure is all it was intended to be.

I think the main issue here is that there are two people intensely passionate about paintball,who sometimes let their emotions get the better of them. I dont think that this is the case here though, as i cant really see anything worth getting upset about.

Pete is often, because of his position, the focus of people with alterior motives, and the subject of writing designed to enflame and wind him up.

Nick often raises good points, some of which are lost because the focus is more on clashing with people and in this respect he is not one to shy away from an argument.

Sam, the only reason I changed his user data was because he had written something derogatory about me in it, that is why !!!
I took it off and replaced it with my comment just after, you just didn't see it, that's all.
So., it wasn't totally out of order as you suggest, you just didn't know he had done it.
I hope you can understand why I did that now.

Anyways, here's what I think has happened.
The banter between you and Nick started off friendly enough. Sure, you two had different views of who said what, where and when, but that is, I feel, the lifeblood of any forum.
So who is right and who is wrong is academic. What I feel triggered this all, is a post by yourself that was probably misinterpreted by Nick. You posted something that you indicate was intented somewhat lighthearted, which Nick seems to have picked up as being a severe dig in the ribs. For something like that happening you are not to blame, and neither is Nick. These things happen.

The both of you are pretty smart, both of you have a short fuse at times, as long as you yourselves are aware of this, no harm done.

This is the big problem with any kind of online forum. All you see is some text on a screen, so all the non verbal communication that normally shows us the true intentions of a person that is speaking to you, is severely lacking. Sure, we can add smileys, but a symbol like could mean "Only yanking your chain a little mate", but could just as easily mean "I'm feeling very good about myself". Nick did not see your face, and you did not see Nick's. Had the two of you been talking face to face, I feel none of this would have happened.

The problem here is that you both are supplied with an ego (not the gun, but the mental thing). And sometimes the both of you have a tendency to defend your corner when you feel attacked. Not a bad trait usually, but it does make a tiff which was caused by a misunderstanding somewhat inflated. As we say in Holland, it's making an elephant out of a mosquito.
So, do I feel either of you is out of line or reacting too heavily? The both of you do this at times, but it's really dependant on how YOU feel about it. I'm sure that the perceived insult (which originally was not intended as an insult) was cause enough for such reaction by both your interpretation of events.
Jeez, it's only the internet. It ain't the first time you guys have a face off, and it won't be the last. Have a look at a few random threads, and you'll see that some people on here go at eachother way more extreme than you two do. Only difference is that you guys, because of your standing within the game, draw a bigger crowd.

In short, nothing wrong with a little bickering. Just keep in mind that it's only the internet, and that when you feel something offends you, it was more than likely not intended as such. So argue with eachother on here as much as you want to, just make sure you can keep your online arguments from becoming real life arguments. But I'm sure I ain't telling you anything new.

Even if his signature says you are a ****, you have in no way the right to get in there and change it. The "normal" way would be to ask him to change it. With a warning after that.

Getting sick of all the endless and totally useless debates on here, so you guys have fun.....i'll just go and read the jokes on my toilet paper.

Just to butt my 2 pennies in here Wasn't too busy at 'work' today so did a little searching, I found a few posts from Nick regarding the use of white shelled/filled paintballs and flurescent lighting so spectators would find the balls and hits easier to see, er what points were we looking for???

If I were wrong, she tells me.

She reads the offending posts.

'Hmmmmm, your first post where you thought you were just having a light hearted joke with him was just that, if you read it at face value........... but knowing your history with him, it's hardly surprising, he might have taken it the wrong way'

I answer, 'Yeah but Debs, now you read his reply to that, tell me what you think about that' !!!!!

'I think you should leave them boards alone and stop getting stressed out over people who mean nothing to you'.

Not verbatim, but pretty close, I think it's time I had another long rest from these boards.

I don't agree with that Maus.

If you host a party in your house, and somebody does something that offends you at the party, you have every right to ask for an apology, send someone to the door, or whatever. It's your party. Same goes here really. PGI magazine hosts this party, and as such it's representatives deserve at least some respect.
