Yes and no. They are still just names, but they are a little too direct, whereas joy division and final solution are not. Like Pinky said, not everybody knows what these mean anyway, when i thought of joy division i thought of joy in the happy context. When i thought of final solution i thought of a team naming themselves that in the context of them being the only way to go, the team going to the top sort of thing.

This really is my face...
political correctness....eesh...

Well I think that ALOT of people misconstrude the intentions of the team and its players...it is likely to be a big misunderstanding. I mean come on 'Final Sollution Sucks' could be what the team call sacrifcing players to keep the game going or anything else you could conjure up. It is highly unlikely indeed to be a DELIBERATE attack on any Jew or undermining people who's religion denotes from the tribe of Israel.

I think many people who will have travelled to the states will agree with me that political correctness is rampant and to the point where it takes away the rights of someone who is saying something which is NOT offensive....ROBBO? Your say sir?

I find it impossible to believe.
As to Philip's and Pinky's notion that Final Solution isn't really all that direct--that's simply ignorance speaking.

As to their right to name themselves whatever they want--sure, but in the context of promoting Paintball and the image of the Millennium or any other series--the promotors have the right to tell them not at our event.

By choosing names like that, i dont believe they are mocking the deaths of the various ethnic groups, i doubt final solution even knew of the meaning of it.

Sorry, but thats just my opinion.
I totally agree with you that they can choose whatever name they like distasteful or not but they shouldnt be suprised nor outraged when they are told they cant participate because of it...

Here in the States the KKK can march whenever they like..Thats their right...But theres also a law which prohibits wearing masks to any type of rally here in NY which usually turns their protests from what they state will be thousands usually into 5 morons preaching hate on a corner..NY State enforces this law big time and it prevents alot of problems had they not..And hopefully the organizers in Amsterdam will enforce Milleniums rule about offensive names before their problems from the name begin..

And if they really didnt know that Final Solution was a pretty offensive name when they chose it,they shouldnt have any problems changing it once they find out from either Millenium or other players that it is...We'll see...

It isn't all that direct to the general paintballer, im not the least intelligent 'baller and i didn't know what it was. Also, like i said earlier, they may have meant it in a different way.

And i do believe it was just me that said it was indirect, not pinky.

I would have thought that someone who has taken the time to put over 2,000 posts would have realised that there broad age group visit this forum and many will be offended by this team name.
I do not consider myself politically correct but I do have consideration for others opinions, even yours, and team names like this should be consigned to the past so the sport can move on.

Agreed, but my above posts still apply. If stopping the names will help the sport go forwards, then so be it.

As i've already said, i dont see names as being offensive, unless direct like KKK, but thats just me, since most people know what it is, but if you ask a number of people what joy division/final solution is i can guarentee you wont get many responses.

Im defending the ability for which teams should be allowed whatever name they choose(within reason[no profanity]) but i am not condoning the use of such names, if that makes any sense.

I personally wouldn't choose a name if anybody found it offensive, and would happily change it if others found it offensive. But that doesn't change the fact that names do not bother me, i take them in the friendly, paintball sense....not what they have once meant.

You can't seperate the meaning from the words and in this case there is no 'friendly, paintball sense'.
I've got no idea how or why the team chose this name and I'll be surprised if they keep it.
If they are serious about the sport they will quickly realise that its offensive and is unlikely to attract:
A) Support or acceptance in most arena's
B) Sponsors
