Some of my favourite names: Cumshot (Sweden), Anal Intruders (UK). I'm sure there are a lot more out there. Some defunct.

I'd say the connotations of Final Solution are more widely known than Joy Division (which I only knew as a band, I'm off to google.com now)!

Okay - perhaps some names are a bit offensive... But I would never have thought about those names that they could be offensive??

I would have thougt of e.g. Joy Division as a bunch of happy guys and Final Solution as a bunch of novices with confidence...

many team have names which are not in itself offensive - but in the right/wrong light have a deeper meaning if heard by persons with certain knowledge or background... Unfortunate but aren't some people overracting a bit??

Should Wikings be a bad name because wikings have raped women and plundered the church?? Dont think so... I haven't done any of them - Actually it's the church that plunders me...

With all respect I dont see anything wrong with the names unless the players behave in a very inapropriate way!!

Didnt know this, and i studied Hostory and the Nazis for A-Levels, but Joy Division in Nazi terms means:

The term "joy division" referred to the Nazi name for concentration camp brothels during World War II

Personally, i did not know about this, and i would suspect that the vast majority of the world would not know this either. (i may be wrong). But they have had this na,e for a long time, and it is not quite the same as 'Final Solution'. I have no problem with Joy beig called Joy, but i can see how some people may do. I do think that being called Final Solution is hugely distasteful, and would reflect badly on the sport in the eyes of the non playing public.

Joy Division could be construed as a gang of doubly abused people who, after having been selected for service, throw themselves back at their opponents. In other words that name could be worn with a degree of irony, even cynicism. That way it has some poetry to it having a Jew and a black Muslim on such a team. Sort of making fun of themselves.

Final Solution, however is a team of Germans who seem to be saying "We are your holocaust". Would it be any more acceptable to be called Holocaust Decision.

I think the Final Solution name is inexcusable and not in the same league as Joy Division.

I agree - my problem with Joy would simply be that as and when paintball grows out of its niche then some spectators coming at pball may find it distasteful...Final Solution is just plain wrong in tha here and now, let alone the future.
