Other than Joy and RL, what European teams are even trying to be the among the best Pro teams on the planet? I don't mean the other teams arn't trying, but it just seems like RL and Joy put just a little more into it.
That is just about the most inane statement I have ever heard in here :)

You have absolutely no knowledge about how much or huw European teams train.

Nick, the problem is, not many of us really do..I have heard from people that they train x number of times a week when the reality is wholly different.
It's a bit like not wanting to seem out the loop in terms of top team's (and others) commitment levels.
A slight massaging of the truth does wonders when talking amongst your peer group ballers and not feeling left out when people around you are all claiming training regimes of 2 to 3 times a week .....

I wouldn't get too strung out over Lane's comments because I think they are nearer the truth than you may think ... leastwise that's my opinion on it all.

I can't give any opinion about the "growing" (or not) gap betwen US and Euro team, but I really appreciate the way US players use to make the comparision : each time a Euro Team seems to be able to compete in the pro div, it's taken as an exception... Euro team competing in the US are usually exceptions, shall they loose indeed to be consider as "normal" ??

Lane didn't say anything to upset me - Chicago did :)

I can only speak for Scandinavia, where I know how much most of the top teams play.

If it is less for the rest of Europe, then I can only be happy, because 1-2 years from now, Scandinavian paintball will then dominate Europe :)

I will also say, you ought to come visit Copenhagen some time, and see how we train over here - you don't really seem to get what can be done with Reball :)

"I predict my new team will end up in the top 10 in Div 1. Such a prediction might seem wild to many readers, but in Scandinavia it has become a normal thing. There are many more teams like that out here who practice hard several times per week and ger really good, really fast" Nick Brockdorff, PGi #201

And where are your team in tha standings Nick?

:p

Dude, I love optimism and passion, but your argument has gone all over tha place in this thread. I really keep trying to walk away but there's just soooooo much pulling me back in.:p

I'm going now though, Seriously. Fish in a barrel is no fun.

Not really :)

Optimism is an essential part of team building - and not really relevant to my general view of paintball ;)

- I bet you didn't think Nexus would be where it is either - in both leagues - or said so publicly? ;)

Anyway - top 10 was slightly optimistic - 12-18 might have been more realistic, from the outset :)

Let's face it Nick, we are both a pair of optimistic fools at times coz there was me thinking the NPPL would come up with a way to successfully stop or at least deter the gun cheats ....... D'oh :)

Well actually - our results this year (the Millennium Series draw insanity notwithstanding), actually proves my point... I had NO idea there would be SO many really really talented teams in Div. 1.

Look at the facts:

- Teams that just missed the cut in Pro last year, are dropping straight through Div. 1 to play Div. 2 next year

- Teams populated with players that all played Pro last year, have struggled immensely

- Dynasty couldn't qualify for the final 4 in Madrid

- Teams nobody ever heard of last year are making the finals

Stuff is happening in Europe - there is a LOT of teams that have gotten VERY serious about paintball - and anyone who cannot see that, is either blind, or so used to the status quo that has been in european paintball for 10 years, that he is unable to fathom a change :)
