Are Euro teams getting better?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Well actually - our results this year (the Millennium Series draw insanity notwithstanding), actually proves my point...

So, the fact that Euro Division One teams are improving proves that the gap betwen Euro and US Pros is diminishing?

We need tha combined talents of Wittgenstein, Russell and Socrates to untangle tha logic of that one...

Seriously dude, you shift positions more regularly than Hilton did in One Night in Paris...

How has my position shifted? - I am saying the same all the time - that European teams are improving at a rate never seen before - and that I believe they are diminishing the gap to US teams?

How is improvement in the second best division NOT an indication of improvement? - I don't get you!!!

Nick, your adpoted position of optimistic idealism is undermining you mate, you need to take stock of what's being said here in terms of comapartive improvements and what's provable one way or another.

You cannot prove your assertion with what you have sugested thus far, all you can do is venture an opinion (which you have done).

Let's move past this...

May I add something - well here goes anyway:

Look at Paintoon (euro-XSV) and Vision - 2 teams who just this year began their pro-career in Europe - they are doing GREAT! "Older"/more experienced pro-teams have problems keeping up with them... And you know what - I bet you that who ever will move up from div. 1 this year will do just as great a job - if not even better!

So HELL yeah the div. 1 if a tough place to be!

So what does this proove? Well to me it prooves that younger teams ARE getting better simply because they are better adapting the way to practise on a more serious note - and off course they are having better conditions because more and more training spots are opened all over Europe! At least that is my thorugh belief!

Not dishing any of this years pro-team (most of them are really really good!) - but I do believe teams/players are getting better conditions all the time, than what teams had just some 5 years ago - and off course it´s easier to learn a young dog new tricks! ;)

Nick, I think the point TJ was making (and you seem partially oblivious to) is that just because you may remark on an improvement as you see it in Div one of the Millennium, this doesn't in any way substantiate any relative claims of a closing of a gap between us and the US.
These two are completely independent of each other in terms of a comparative appraisal, do you not see that?
And if you do, why would you use it as some sort of validation of your position ?

That's why I suggested it might be better to move past this because there is a fundamental flaw in what you are suggesting, I am not questioning your right to hold that opinion, I (and TJ) are merely questioning the nature of your opinion and the problems begin when you attempt to justify it.... that's all mate.

It seems to be a trend, that the teams filled with US paintball stars, have a hard time getting past the prelims - and definitely into the final 4, in the MS CPL.

Is this indicative of Euro paintball getting closer to the US level - or just that hired guns often don't really give a damn, and are not bringing their A game??

Nick
^^^^ is what you said Nick - you said that because teams with US pro's didn't have it all their own way in the CPL that somehow Euro Pro's were closing the gap on the US.

Everyone who has played / watched / sponsored / ran a league in the US this year disagrees with your contention of an overall closing the gap, yet you persist.

Yes the Euros have improved over the last couple of years against what they were at before, and no one has doubted that in this thread, but we all believe that that improvment is at least matched or bettered by the same level of improvement within the US.

Ok - all you brits can believe what you want :)

I'll leave this debate alone - as I think the negativity stems from the situation on the British tournament scene.

Nick
Hehehe...are me and Magued Brits?

Negativity and logic are not tha same thing...at least not in my universe.

I think you are right to leave though...close the door behind you.:p
