It is a kind of protectionism.
The fact of the matter is, there would be a strong tendency for Americans to dominate in EXL if we didn't make it an exclusive club. I think it makes sense in the short-term and in a few years it won't matter so we could make it more open later. I think just from a marketing standpoint it would be easy to understand Euro sports fans not getting behind Stockholm Dynasty (I could be wrong). Unless, of course, the San Diego boys decided to change their residency (and they are more than welcome).
I'm glad that there are other leagues that are more open, but this is right for EXL right now IMHO.
