Alex Lundqvist banned from playing EXL

Pete & Magued - My apologies...

After a good nights sleep - and one further conversation with my dog (damn he makes sense some times), I just want to apologize for "emotions" over brains.

Holding you & Maggot responsible for the decisions made in for EXL is a little irresponsible of all of us. If the EXL where a true league, then we would all be TOLD how things would be - and if we didn't like it we could find some other place to play. But once the teams are ASKED how things should be then all bets are off.

You and Mag chose what you think is best for your team - and you bloody well should, anything else on your part would be irresposible to your team. It's not your job to worry about the state of the EXL - other people get paid to do that.

The problem is not with the individual owners/managers but with the system itself. Trying to please too many people at the same time - as usual - and we all know what happens when you try to do that. Whether or not the EXL can become a viable league remains to be seen - personally everything that I have been through with other sports indicates otherwise - but again I say IT'S NOT YOUR JOB. Since the vote ended up 4-4 then the decision once again resides with league. Now my question is, with 8 teams voting does the commissioner have the deciding 9th vote? or is this decision made by the MS board?? If it is made by the board, then do Mag & Laurent get to vote again - which shouldn't be allowed??

You never pissed me off - only Nick - I just ask that you read what I write and see that I am more interested in a strong EXL than anything (Ducks performance as stated before is our own damn problem) - who knows how long these old legs can keep me running, but it would be nice to see something for the future 'ballers.

So with that said - Pete, Mag - let's meet in the bar in Paris and y'all can buy me a beer :)

I can see where you're coming from, more playing equals better playing, of course. But the assumption that your performance is entirely dependent on the number of official EXL matches played is unfounded.

Who would you rather be? A team that played twice as many EXL matches as another at the previous event, or that other team that practiced twice as much, ran twice as many drills, and had twice as many scrimmages?

The amount of time spent in actual competition is trivial compared to the amount of time spent in training and at practice. Well, not for everyone, but those are the ones left wishing they had booked their flight for Saturday night.

Jeeeez you can be patronising sometimes !

You keep hinting that we went with pools, because we are one of the teams that cannot expect to get far with the DE system...... and even begin to tell us what we need to do, to better ourselves !

If I were EVER to write the stuff you wrote Goose - to you about Nexus - you would go absolutely ape**** and be immensely insulted.

I am all too aware you do not believe we will be amongst the top teams in the EXL, your writings in here and in PGI recently proves that........ and yes - you are absolutely entitled to believe that...... and proof is in the pudding, so all this is just word games.

BUT - your position just puzzles me, because you are setting yourself up for a big fall, if things do not go like you expect (which they rarely do in paintball - for any of us).

You tend to ignore your knowledge that our team only managed to practice 4 times all last season, for lack of a field..... and still managed to make it into the EXL.

You tend to ignore your knowledge that we are now practising weekly.

You tend to ignore the fact that we have picked up 5 new players (including 4 young, fast fronts) that will blow holes in everyone this year.

You tend to ignore the fact that we are by far the most experienced Pro team in Europe.

You tend to ignore your knowledge that us and the russians are the only "true" teams that played X-Ball last year, and we got the furthest in the competition.

So go on:

- keep believing that we do not view ourselves as a team that will dominate the EXL this year
- keep believing that our lack of selfconfidence made us vote for pools
- Keep believing we made a selfish choice when voting for pools.

It's all your prerogative to think as you do........ just as it is my prerogative to think you are dead wrong, and honestly tell you I NEVER LIE - and when I say I voted for pools for the good of the league, that is the absolute truth.

I look forward to playing you guys first round in Paris - or why not give the Tigers a call, and join our practice weekend (in England, same weekend as Maxs Masters) ?

All the best

Nick

Nick, to be honest, I just can't be bothered to answer your post in full; it is faulted in too many ways.
I could do but it would result in another post from yourself and the thread just descending into absurdium as you never let go of trying to ‘not lose the point'.

Remember how you ended up painting yourself into a similar type corner before where it eventually had you telling everybody that not only were the Euro am teams as good as the Yanks but also there were just as many Euro am teams as the Yanks?
Both absurd propositions and anybody who adopts them is not really worth entering into a debate with when it starts going in a similar unreasoned direction.
I don't give two sh1ts how many times you trained or didn’t train last year, I will assess what I assess with what you did on the field, it's as simple as that.
I ain’t got a crystal ball mate, I have to go on what I know.
I am confident however,in what I am trying to do with Nexus, if that confidence and belief in Nexus means that I relegate your team below ours in any relative assessment, then hang me, I am guilty.
Arrogance maybe, I don’t know, I work hard for Nexus, the guys on my team also work hard and are extremely talented and committed individuals, do you honestly think I am gonna ignore that just to make you feel better?
And I might be setting myself up for a fall, who knows, not me or you that's for sure but that's the risk anybody takes in saying anything speculative.
I tell you one thing Nick, for all the talk you come out with, it’s all about results on the field, instead of entering into some meaningless debate with me trying to score points, do it on the field !!!
And Nick, you recently had an Xball training weekend with some amateur team didn't you, how did that go???

NIck, get off my case !

Goose absolutely no need to apologise, it is me who should apologise for my tone, as my wife just informed me when she read my reply post to you.
Goose, no problem mate.
Peace

Good point NOOP and one that escaped me especially after we had played so crap at XBall and put our reserve team in for Campaign and STILL ended up qualifying for Orlando :)
