I havn't had that much fun at an event since the BOP exhibition tournament in Blackpool. It really showed how good an event can be if it's primarily run to benefit the sport rather than the pockets of a few. And if it's run the right way, more teams will come anyway so everybody wins!

I'd like to thank the caterers for providing the food at very reasonable prices, the chilli chips were to die for! Thanks to all the vendors for coming and supporting the event. Huge thanks to all the teams we played, playing teams way ahead of us is exactly what we wanted so we can up our game, so it was great for us to be given the opportunity to play them.

Big thanks to all on the Fed board, Pete, Wendy, Chris and all the rest, and a huge thanks to the girls in the admin tent. Massive thank you to our sponsors Anarky Paintball and Tallaght Leisure Centre for helping us out all year, and Draxxus for the paint, awesome as always. And finally, thanks to everyone who was there for making us feel so welcome.

Only one thought, location. I didnt have a problem with the drive but it would have been amazing if it could have been publicized better. This was meant to be a step forward for UK paintball, to show people how events should be run to cater for the mases, i just wish more people (players and the general public) could have been there to see it.
Sadly the venue had to be changed at a late stage.
As for players attending, some people just cannot be arsed to travel to events. Every month I see scenario players jetting up and down the UK, just to play an event, this just does not happen to any proportionate level in SupAir

Robbo,
You may have a point to your post but you ruin it with insults, how does someone's profession (or height for that matter) affect their ability to comment on a tournament? Could you not just write the same post without the insults? I for one agree with the majority of what Pete Foley wrote. The event was meant to be the height of uk paintball and it was let down by inconsistent calls.

We need the higher ranked uk teams to play these events to legitimize the trophy. Without the British CPL and SPL teams can we honestly claim it is a fair representation of the UKs best slogging it out to become champion and because of that I think it is a shame shock have decided not to compete next year.

Though I thought aspects of the event were good I can't help but feel it would have been better to hold the fed cup next season when there was a little more time to prepare and a date that didn’t conflict with any other events could have been found (there is usually a month off in the middle of the millennium series, this would have been perfect as its usually August and the uk weather is less unpredictable). im sure someone else can confirm this but weren't the normal uk reffs unable to commit to this event because they are also at world cup?

No doubt a lot of work went into this event and on the whole it was a success. Weather issues were handled well and the site was well constructed. The general atmosphere seemed good and there was a strong selection of trade stands. Both food and alcohol seemed to be reasonably priced and I think on the whole the majority of the teams enjoyed the event. Excluding the for mentioned I thought the only other issue was the fields, though the central dip gave neither team the advantage it definitely effected how the field played and there for was no help for preparing for turkey but I guess this isn't the concern of all the teams in attendance and as I understand this wasn’t the primary venue choice

Im sure I will also be slated and insulted for this post but I feel it has to be said.

Seems quite ironic to me if you look at Dark Warrior's last post and then bear in mind, this guy (Davejfox) bought his team over from Ireland to play this event because he and his guys believed in what we are trying to do.
Prompts a question don't it ?????

If Dave's team represents what other Irish teams are like, then they are all welcome over because these guys were EXACTLY what real paintballers should behave like, they were a credit to themselves and their sponsors.

hey, just wonna say shock had to shoot off as we had 4 hour journeys and after playing we were shattered so apoligies for not hanging around. well just like to give some feedback whether we like it or not as long as its constructive, weldone to all the venders for their support although no one bought anything, although it had high expectations this was just a masters event for two days.

what was the idea of this event i dont know, just a propaganda stunt to show the industry cares?
i thought we were trying to help the tourney scene grow so why didnt the lower level teams play against higher levels and again not allow them to up their game.
as for the format well for starters the rules were made up as the weekend went by with all sorts of calls and decisions being made, i saw so many rediculous calls being made which just makes teams think why bother, some of us have been on the circuit a long time and you cant pull cotton wool over our eyes.

ok you may say whats the problem?
the reffing was inconsistent, you would see a bad call being made and then on the same breath an over exaggerated one to compensate it, crazy!
if we are all honest the reffing was poor end off, yeah you may hate me for that but its true, just ask the teams, and really you dont need to cos it showed in our fustration and thats why so many players got out of hand with bans, warnings and like a trillion 1 4 1's. reffing is like policing so if you want the respect show it.
we are paying customers and the reffs are human beings too, but it all got out of hand cos the rules were crazy and the benefit of the dault was thrown out the window, chris edwards and i just looked in horror at some of the calls. before we were gonna play the finals we both said that whatever the outcome it would be down to how the reffing went.

im not here to slag the guys off as some guys were cool and as i said you commit the crime they will have you for it, but same reffs thought it was their duty to throw penalties like they were out of fashion.
how are we gonna grow as a sport if we just keep screwing each other.

if this federation thing is gonna work we need to also look at improving the consistentcy and uniform policing of reffing and not the politics, as one player said to me after the last match "they were liked in the north so it was no surprise they won", fine so what are we supposed to take from that?
dont come again, ok so another top team pulls out, and so on and so on its just crazy.

i for one will be pulling shock out of the fed cup series and the masters as i and my players have lost all confidence and are afraid it will just get out of control. if this is a sport and wish to progress and i mean move in the right direction then alot needs to be done. main one is for all of us to pull together and not just put a front on.

just a quick one on a positive, paint from jon payne was bang on thanks jp, planet eclipse spot on with the geos, and ive been lucky enough to have shot the new 2010 and its just well amazing, ledz man its gonna smash it next year, i highly recommend you guys try one and then just fall in love and buy it, simon jt just looks serious as ever thanks for all your surport man, draxxus hellfire a no brainer best out there.

guys on a last note come on we all can do better than than from all corners so lets do it and get brititsh paintball back on pole position again, mr robinson we need to talk lol, nice to see ya again you handsome devil.

In any given set of results the obvious anomalies are usually discounted, which is what I'd do with the above post to be honest.

And really, is a spell checker that hard to use?

.
I will take you seriously when you tell me of one tournament that has been held in the history of paintball that has not played host to inconsistent calls ....... name me one !!!

And if you cannot, then your post disintegrates into meaningless drivel....

We would like to thank the federation for putting this event on, our team really enjoyed the weekend, we was a little disapointed that we didn qualify and missed out by coming 9th! But thats paintball.
Playing this event and made us want to up our game even more in 2010 and i will be putting the team in at a higher division.

Big thanks to all the vender who turned up and showed there support we bought a few bits from them.

I think it was a excellent starting point for the federation and only can get better with the feedback from teams and spectators.

We wish the federation all the best with this event in the future and will be supporting you along the way.

Good point in your last sentence. People seem to be willing to travel further for big scenario games as they are seen to be more of an 'event', whereas tournaments tend to be a bit samey and blur into one another.

I think the Fed are on the right road with the cup - make it a bit different/special and people will make the effort to travel.
