hey, just wonna say shock had to shoot off as we had 4 hour journeys and after playing we were shattered so apoligies for not hanging around. well just like to give some feedback whether we like it or not as long as its constructive, weldone to all the venders for their support although no one bought anything, although it had high expectations this was just a masters event for two days.
what was the idea of this event i dont know, just a propaganda stunt to show the industry cares?
i thought we were trying to help the tourney scene grow so why didnt the lower level teams play against higher levels and again not allow them to up their game.
as for the format well for starters the rules were made up as the weekend went by with all sorts of calls and decisions being made, i saw so many rediculous calls being made which just makes teams think why bother, some of us have been on the circuit a long time and you cant pull cotton wool over our eyes.
ok you may say whats the problem?
the reffing was inconsistent, you would see a bad call being made and then on the same breath an over exaggerated one to compensate it, crazy!
if we are all honest the reffing was poor end off, yeah you may hate me for that but its true, just ask the teams, and really you dont need to cos it showed in our fustration and thats why so many players got out of hand with bans, warnings and like a trillion 1 4 1's. reffing is like policing so if you want the respect show it.
we are paying customers and the reffs are human beings too, but it all got out of hand cos the rules were crazy and the benefit of the dault was thrown out the window, chris edwards and i just looked in horror at some of the calls. before we were gonna play the finals we both said that whatever the outcome it would be down to how the reffing went.
im not here to slag the guys off as some guys were cool and as i said you commit the crime they will have you for it, but same reffs thought it was their duty to throw penalties like they were out of fashion.
how are we gonna grow as a sport if we just keep screwing each other.
if this federation thing is gonna work we need to also look at improving the consistentcy and uniform policing of reffing and not the politics, as one player said to me after the last match "they were liked in the north so it was no surprise they won", fine so what are we supposed to take from that?
dont come again, ok so another top team pulls out, and so on and so on its just crazy.
i for one will be pulling shock out of the fed cup series and the masters as i and my players have lost all confidence and are afraid it will just get out of control. if this is a sport and wish to progress and i mean move in the right direction then alot needs to be done. main one is for all of us to pull together and not just put a front on.
