Just some thing id like to add. I didnt loose hits. Wipe scream and shout punch players. Bonus ball. And yup didnt get a bad call ! What does that say ?
You had a blooming exceptional day ;);)

Good point in your last sentence. People seem to be willing to travel further for big scenario games as they are seen to be more of an 'event', whereas tournaments tend to be a bit samey and blur into one another.

I think the Fed are on the right road with the cup - make it a bit different/special and people will make the effort to travel.
They do not need to be big, there are groups of less that 10 scenario players that will travel over 5 hours to an average event with 100 combatants

It says, you can't spell 'lose' .... but on the other hand, you're a fair player and as such, was treated fairly by the judging staff :)

Im surprised by the amount of negativity on this.

Reffing will always be debatible, depending what side of the fence you are on, i personally dont fancy standing in a M7 field doing their job, they are only human so cut them some slack!!!

GBH came with 4 of our Div 4 players and brought along a Koth player, so to take 2nd in in D2 was truly amazing

To Lips, Thanks for ALL the support over the weekend!!!

I feel we are onto something good here, so guys in the FED keep up the good work :)

my opinion of the event

food was good location was good weather is out of our hands

i know time is a major factor in paintball events but i think the schedule should of been different to keep people at the venue as once people found out they did not make the sunday a lot of people simply went home, also as the xball did not start till 12:30 nobody really playin the xball turned up till 11:00, it was also dissapointing that people went home after the first knock out game of sunday just feels like a wast of a day

maybe if a prelim match was given on the sunday it would not make people feel as bad about the day.

the reffing was very strict through out the weekend and it only got worse as the weekend went on for example players where not even given a chance to to get up from the floor to put there hands up instant 1 for 1 in some cases

people where not given a chance i actually whitnessed a ref on the floor shouting your out as the player did not hear the ref he was 2 for 1'nd is the ref got up off the floor and give the player the standard out call with hand signal the player would of heared him

there was also a message on facebook from one of the refs stating that he was not in the mood for sunday and would penalise them for even looking at him

i know the refs have a hard job to but there is a certain profesionalism needed from the refs that was not there at weekend.

Stoney, I been in this game for over 20 years and I have yet to go to an event where I have not heard someone bitch and moan about the reffing.

Reffing is not an exact science and never will be... the most demanding and professional of all competitive arenas is football's Premier league, and every week, we hear of bad or incompetent reffing; or rather somebody bitching and moaning about them... and so what does this tell us Stoney?????

Really, what does this tell us mate????.....

If you can't work it out, I'll enlighten you mate, it tells us, that no matter what you do, refs (people) will ALWAYS make mistakes and what it also tells us, it is how you as players, react to the inevitable disappointment of ref's mistakes that becomes the real issue.

It's significant to me at least that you chose to mention a ref that allegedly posted some inappropriate cr@p on Facebook instead of the remainder of the refs who didn't ... do you understand the point I am making here Stoney???

We certainly had problems with the schedule, and for those, I apologise but I tell you this much, we won't have those same problems at the next event because we will try to learn from our mistakes.

I got home home after a Nine hour drive...it was well worth the drive down on Thursday and home yesterday...
I saw a lot of players enjoying the weekend, watching games, eating decent grub at good prices, retailer/sponsor tents, compressed air, refs, the Federation, Wendy etc etc etc..it was all there to make a great event...It Did!
This did not just happen by chance! Thanks to the Federation and all that contributed, inc the players that were there playing or supporting. For those that didn't go...You really missed out!!
Only comment to help for next year...more of the same please!...Oh and some alcohol free beer for those that had to drive every day!! :)

My photos are up in the appropriate section and some more will be added today.

BON: i think that you have made your post, so that people think you are actually involved with this event ie making it happen or have some thing to do with the running of it with, your first post with comments like " thanks for this and thanks for that people are just assuming you might have some thing to do with it, that's what i am reading into it maybe i am wrong.

Not at all, ill make that clear now, I in no way, shape, or form had anything to do with running this event.

I only asked for constructive critisism as I totally support what the Fed is trying to do and people coming on complaning for ex "food was ****" ain't much help if they want to get it changed for next event, what was **** about it, price? Value? Quality? (food was brilliant btw)

Though I will agree with something someone else put, the more new teams need to be brought along aswell I think, rather than trying to have an event where only the best teams come along, consider making it an end of year "super event" where as many teams as possible come along, whether they are playing their first tournament or 100th.

Possibly the way the "invites" were dealt with this year put people off?

Hi everyone.

I just needed to make a comment with regard to the criticisms being posted today about the federation cup event this weekend at Ancaster.

This whole event and what it stands for is a noble cause of the highest order. The federation and it members are mainly industry personal who have given their time and money,"A lot of money" to putting this thing together. Many in the group have been in the industry for a number of years and have seen it go through a series of changes, some good and some bad. There was a time when teams had a choice of two or three tournaments a WEEK! to choose from, pretty much all run reasonably professionally with teams returning time and time again. That time sadly has now gone. The campaign cup was a yearly event to which loads of uk teams used to get really excited about weeks in advance and the mayhem masters, christ , I knew teams that did'nt sleep for the week prior to that one! The idea behind this tounament was simple, to try and bring back the "sense of event" , the excitement, that for some reason has leaked out of the game. If it were not for Wendy and a couple of others ,who against all odds have managed to keep tournament paintball alive in the uk.
I for one have witnessed the hard pysical graft that lady and her team have done over this weekend and many weekends before that, and i assure you, all you little "rock stars" are not making her a millionare!
The federation was set up to help and endorse, and wherever possible build some international recognition for uk paintball, A way of showing that the "industry" cared for the team scene and wanted it to, not so much get back to the glory days , but to at least be able to hold its head high on the world circuit. Before the more cynical of you say "you industry types are only in it for the money you can get out of it" Well of course we are! its our business! but at the moment my friends pickings are thin...
The industry has invested in this and other projects to try to revitalze the game, but it cannot go on for ever. I think teams should maybe think along these lines," the industry is investing in us, trying to put some structure and kudos back into uk paintball, we should do the same"
you can do this in two ways, 1. Stop bitching about everything without offering some suggestion as an alternative. Criticism is worthless unless it it constructive criticism. The reffing issues are and always will be there, they do not as some suggest try their best to **** you over unless you are a complete prick, and if you are, you deserve it!. I absoloutely promise you that as a general rule that if you treat the reffs with respect even if you do not like their decision, over time it will become the reffing we all desire and they will treat you with respect, "that of the paying customer" which you are. My fellow Federation members welcome all constructive comments as to how we can improve, we meet every month, take a day out of in some cases very busy schedules to talk, argue, and thrash out ways of making this wonderful game better for you the players. This event was not perfect, far from it, but as a late arrival onto the diary i think it went pretty well, we did our best, and I thank all those teams who attended, the staff and refferee's, trade show, the field owner and everyone else who made the effort to be there, it was great to see you and I really hope you find yourself in the position to see uk paintball respected again as I know it used to be. Finally to all those people who constantly go on about the cost of paintball, listen , its a consumable based sport, that is an undeniable fact, if you cannot afford it, do something else.
regards to all .

Simon Cole.
