Before this gets out of hand, it was me who posted the "cr@p" up on facebook. Ill hold my hands upto it, but in all honesty anyone who knows me will know I was joking. I have reffed for a hell of a long time, un biased and totally inmartial. I favour no teams players etcl. I never have or I wouldnt ref.

"Jon Conroy is in no mood to ref this morning any bad nothing and im just gonna break your jaw! Seems fair to me!;)Yesterday at 7:12am via Mobile Web · Comment · Like / Unlike · View Feedback (4)Hide Feedback (4)Ashley Drinkall and Richard Walker like this.

Maybe I shouldnt of put it and I do apoligise for that but I was trying to have a laugh when I wasnt feeling too spritely being stuck on a RAF base due to a security alert when I should of been driving to ancaster and also the fact I had lost all of my reffing kit (2 sets) in a tent fire the night before. It doesnt excuse the fact I put it but its by the by now.
I know about a lot of the reffing issues and gripes that people had on sunday as I was the ultimate I had it in the neck, and I mean a lot. Unfortunately this wasnt the ideal weekend due to the world cup but we all made the best of what we could. I spoke to a lot of players throughout the day and tried to do my best with the refs that I had. I shouldnt of even been on the field due to a torn ankle ligament but with one of the refs falling ill on saturday I stepped up and ran round (hobbled some :) ) all day.

But to be honest with some of the so called paintballers (thugs is a maybe a better word) im surprised their are anyone left in this country who will ref these events. I had refs threatened with being punched in the face, called c**t, b***ch etc. Is this anyway to behave in any manner. Yet you expect us all to behave in aperfect manor, not phase and carry out our duties to the best of the abilities.

Maybe some people need to think before bitching next time.

yes mate i understand
Cool, there's hope then .....

just stating my mind any feed back is good feed back for the future

Any constructive criticism is yes, but blind, ill-founded or unqualified criticism does nothing but estrange people and cloud the real issues.

perhaps the fed cup next year could be at Blackpool
I think we need to take one step up a time, this year's venue was forced upon us because we lost the original one through no fault of our own and so were up against it somewhat.

We knew we would make mistakes but we also believed that people might look past those and try to see what we are doing here and appreciate the bigger picture, and I think, the majority do just that but other people ... and it's easy to spot them in this thread, see it as an opportunity to undermine.

I would be worried if their posts contained anything substantial but thankfully, their points amount to little more than trivial, or misleading.

Wow haven’t you guys got anything better to do than argue. The event to cut it short was as good as can be expected considering the current climate and the amount of teams in the UK right now, there were lots of good points and some bad (the days of £4 million stadiums are gone get over it) The reffing was pretty bad as a whole but there were so many players cheating that I saw, the marshals just couldn't keep up with the play mainly due to inexperience and the amount of cheating I think. We had a Marshall come upto us and say that they have removed 2 marshals for making consistent bad calls against us which did set alarm bells ringing a little.

Players shouting at Judges (Inc my players) is not acceptable, I do think the marshals made some very bad calls but I also think the conduct of some players Inc my own was pathetic and equally as bad, I was as disappointed with my team as I was the judges. As far as I know we will play and support the leagues, as growing the sport in the UK is something we would like to help improve for are sponsors at least. I would like to thank Wendy and everyone involved for a good event and if anyone wants my opinion or advice in more depth about the event then feel free to call me. I will not use a public forum for this as I don’t believe it is the place for this type of discussion.

Little Pete calm down if you have a problem with the event please contact Wendy etc to sort this out as coming on here being negative especially when we played so badly is not cool!!!

Big Pete come on man you been doing so well lately with the insults and we both know that JF21 is correct, Pete's height or job has nothing to do with this whatsoever and you are more than clever enough to get your point across with out the personal insults!!!

Lets all keep it on track stay positive and if not suck it up and talk privately don’t use a public forum to do this its so unprofessional and both the Federation and Shockwave don’t want or need this kind of negative press.

Please let that be the end of it guys if not for yourselves then for everyone else involved please!!!

P.S I will call you both later to discuss this and other matters with both of you.

It would seem Jon, this aspect of reffing is conveniently ignored in favour of attacking you and your staff .... all of these people who threaten you guys would fill their nappies were they ever to step inside a boxing ring and so their physical threats and abuse can be effectively ignored.

Some of them then have the cheek to come on here and continue their outrageous attacks ..... paintball will be much better off without them and their [thread] supporters ....

Warren, I really don't give a sh!t what anybody thinks about what I write and I don't need you or anybody else calling me to 'sort things out'; I will stand by everything I said, even the personal abuse directed toward fooley.. and that is that !!!!!
If you wanna call me about another subject then fine, I got no problem with that.

Which refs mate? XBall? Being on that field all weekend i didn't see any ref's removed etc. We switched refs around in terms of field positions as it helped swapping around.
Another point, These were the same refs that have done the UKMasters XBall all year so saying the "normal" refs were at the World cup is rubbish.

As a whole from my view the event was good, stands food location. Yeah the fields weren't the best in the world but judging on the comments from the Mills threads etc no body's are.

Reffing will always get blamed, but to be honest some of the teams were such primadonnas you were lucky to be even playing. If I'd have been the ultimate you wouldn't have stepped on the field.I hope i never see those teams again. Your insults/threats and blatant cheating ruined the weekend for me. I'll be honest, to the point that i honestly am not going to ref again.

I thought the reffing was great! Harsher than i've ever seen before. If one of the Federation's goals is to re-educate paintball and change the way players have been behaving and degenerating over recent years then it was a great start - keep it up. One of the biggest problems with reffing is the lack of decision making. i.e its easier to take both players out than comitt to all the evidence in front of your eyes that someone clearly got shot first.

I watched many many games on the x-ball field and was delighted to see refs making decisions quickly rather than always taking the easy option - particular kudos to refs Ash - in a red hoody and a lady (Sue?) who really really impressed me.

Arguing over the internet about calls, Shock behaving badly - its like ive never been away:D

Lemon - you are spot on (and played great sunday). Refs make decisions based on 2 things - the evidence in front of their eyes and back history. People forget that reputations are hard to earn but easy to lose (or is it that most people just seem to want to be known as badass). Act like a **** and it'll come back down on you ten-fold. Give ref's and other players respect and you'll reap the benefits. What goes around comes around.

Federation guys - thanks for actually doing something. Any criticism of the event aside - we could still be sitting here talking about what was needed and you are the ones that have made something happen. The ball is rolling now, let's see where it will take us.

This was an absolutely fantastic event.

Although it was FREEZING on the saturday!!! If you could have arranged a better deal with mother nature as opposed to sleeping with her daughter at the office christmas party last year resulting in this most chilly of events then that would have been fantastic!

Would have liked to see more teams turn up, though I know Tigers had training on the Sunday.

Food was fantastic, with the exception of mars bars for 80p! Jacket potatoes after 5 games on that saturday = mmmmmm:cool:

Thanks Chris and Wendy!
U guyz rock! x

As a Southerner with a 4 hour drive to get home as well, I can only add to a few things. Im not gonna get into the argument about reffing as reffing will only get better if these guys and girls who have the hardest job in paintball start getting some respect. To be honest I think all you argumentative *******s are driving refs out of the sport with your constant moaning. sh 1t happens and always will so get used to it. If not then rather than pull your team out of events (and this ISNT directed at anyone cause you hear it all the time) try offering your teams services and do the frikkin job yourselves if you think you would be so good at it!
On the subjects I can comment on, yes I have a lot of friends up North from these and other forums so travelling up is a pleasure to meet up with these guys I wouldnt normally see. Its also nice to meet new people who I have known for years and never met. But I think it was a pretty poor turnout for teams in the Southern leagues. To be honest would any of bothered turning up if they didnt win free entry? i dont think so. If you wanna blame the location then feel free but I think its the teams that are lazy combined with the fact that teams are better in the North, some Southern (well most) will only go where they know they can win!
As for the rest of the set up, Ancaster is a great venue (you wanna see some of the sh 1t we have down South!) If you cant run up a slight incline then go to the gym fatty!
Wendy and her girls as always were running around like a headless chickens so big props to her as always.
Trade stands were great but one complaint, no one had wooly hats cause us soft southerners dont do wind like that and my ears were cold :D
Food, how awesome were the pork and apple rolls??? £1 for a coffee was a bit steep and even the lids didnt fit properly (sorry but this is a serious issue!!!) :D
Teams, we (Clan) had some great games and all were polite enough to us.
Beer tent, Please dont open so early as Im sure Big Sid was rushing to get in there before mid day. (yes he did start drinking around mid day not 2pm and left the pub at midnight lol)
Think thats about it, Im not knocking anyone or kissing ass as we will definitely be doing more events Oop North next year either as 2Hott4U or Iggle Piggle.
Thanks to everyone involved, Especially the Clan boys, Cook$ and Fi$h for a great night on Saturday and the Irish boys for laughs all weekend as always ;)
