If it ant broke dont fix it,

To many people have tried to make it more watchable but always ends on its arse, just like that stupid thing that idiot cash money thought he dreamed up.

Saying that maybe people thought that about xball as well.

I would try top get some good commentators and do some crowd stuff like chucking out lanyards stuff like that.
I think Rich is saying the "spectator" side actually is broken and he's trying to fix it, or at least improve it.

It's on the beach and you want to attract Joe Public and actually keep his/her interest. Good luck.

Well a little more constructive then.
BAD
Xball - Can't use that term it'll be hard enough explaining Paintball
Netting - OK it has to be there safety safety safety but to joe public it's a barrier to say can't go there, I don't have a cost effective solution to this one, money no object, really big window:D and no giving them gogs and letting them onto a live fire field ow!:(:(:(
Joe P in the pits - do you wander into Man U's dressing room before/during/after game to say hello, have a look around, have boots thrown at your head:confused:

GOOD
Crowd participation - Cheering a team, get the local news in on it, even national should pick this up and get the teams out and about doing interviews paper, radio and for the hansome athletic types TV.
Hands On - Booths for J.P. to touch and try kit, shooting range
Meet and greet - Get some competions going. VIP treatment for the day, guided tour of the pits and fields, meet the teams, play an exhibition game
Hands on Pt2 - A punter field running 3 man, 5 man teams but get that going now and cheap as is humanly possible with win a pro to play for your team
Commentators - YES have to be but they also need to make it exciting. It's exciting to play but unless you have a connection with anyone out there it's not much fun to watch till some sap get's mugged on the tape line your watching. Anyone remember the Sky Sports coverage on the PA, it was v.dull if you weren't the one playing
Celebrity - No, paintballers are only famous to other paintballers, in the really world your a sad case who plays toy soliders (don't flame me i'm trying to be devil's advocate) Now if you could get Jordan and Peter Andre to play off against each other you'll be in every newspaper in the english speaking world. Ok aiming a little high but you get the drift.

If i'm thinking this right it's on the promenade which is the HIGHEST EVER PROMINENT PLACE PAINTBALL HAS EVER!!!!! BEEN PLAYED in the UK. Remember going to Campaign at Crystal palace, how many people in that stadium had never played or seen paintball. Very few i'm guessing.

Get it right and you'd easily double the amount of UK teams overnight.

how about setting the fields up so that they are very playable down the tapes so you have some great tape side shoot out right infront of the crowds.. that way people will want to stay and watch the next one....

obviously the fields will be going up before the event,so have a booth like what parksy suggested ,as joe public will see the fields going up and think what the hells this so fuel thier curiosity and inform him before the event starts that way they will possibly think hey i,ll come and watch this it sounds interesting:)

To add to that.....how about a 'staged' match with pre determined plays that look visually exciting to the spectator.for example: Maybe a point or match with a guaranteed 4 run throughs/muggings and whatever other 'moves' that could be 'faked' to put on a real show piece.

Show the public the best 'spectator' moments of a tourney but in a short space of time. I dont mean play a match where team A is just the pre determined winner. I was thinking about working out how to put on a 5 minute 'act' involving as many match winning moves as possible, with maybe the last move being a classic game winning , eye catching move (if there is such a thing?)

(would need to be well rehearsed/executed etc so may be too much of a headache...just an idea)

I'll get me coat

Not sure if its been mentioned, and i have no doubt its gotta be some sort of insurance nightmare, but gettin the public shooting is the ultimate in participation really.

Maybe a few snap-cages with targets or something like that? set the markers up on 32bps ramping or something silly, they`ll love it!

ETA: just seen tramples post about shooting ranges :(

and i like topchef`s idea^^^^ lots of dives and muggings. maybe a 3on1 to finish! :D

Also, to combine the shooting ranges and celebrities... why not print some photos of jordan and peter up and let the public shoot the crap outta them. i`d pay to do that!! :D

A good thing the nppl and the MS do is have a sort of exhibition match thing in the breaks.

have some kind of celeb or football team or even better have 2 mascots fighting it out on centre court get the crowd ready.

Let the teams who are playing have a theme tune playing as they come out.

big the teams up who are coming out to play team by team get ballers in the crowd to shout and cheer and people will follow suit like they do in american football

How about you give out banners/signs to each spectator with a team name. If that team wins, the spectator wins a car.
