To add to that.....how about a 'staged' match with pre determined plays that look visually exciting to the spectator.for example: Maybe a point or match with a guaranteed 4 run throughs/muggings and whatever other 'moves' that could be 'faked' to put on a real show piece.

Show the public the best 'spectator' moments of a tourney but in a short space of time. I dont mean play a match where team A is just the pre determined winner. I was thinking about working out how to put on a 5 minute 'act' involving as many match winning moves as possible, with maybe the last move being a classic game winning , eye catching move (if there is such a thing?)

(would need to be well rehearsed/executed etc so may be too much of a headache...just an idea)

I'll get me coat

Winner right there. Think of it as a really well choreographed fight scene, always looks so much nicer than a real life scrap.

Wouldn't take that much rehearsing, just say to everyone what they are going to do ie dive into snake and let someone mug you etc etc

Thats kind of what I had in mind. Maybe a failed attempt at a muggin down the middle early on so the crowd see what COULD of happened, then a couple of good 'bumps' to secondary bunkers involving slides and superman dives. Maybe a bit of 'intentional' overshooting and some amatuer dramatics on the side of the player that got overshot with the ref stepping in to lay down a penalty or something?
Follow it all up with a succesfull mugging down the tape in a 3 on 1 with the 'mugger' hanging the flag and hitting the buzzer. (and the crowd go wild lol )

Combined with some GOOD running commentary it could work . If any of you have been to a supercross meeting you will have seen how the crowds give it all the "OOOOOOOOOOhhhhh's & AAAAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhss" as the motocross bikes pull off there stupidly insane jumps and stunts etc. The commentaor gets the crowd 'ready' for each 'spectacle' and the players then goto work and make there moves. Maybe some back ground 'paintball' related rock music to create the atmosphere aswell?

I dont know how or 'if' it could translate to xball but it could be fun to try:D

Sounds good,as long as it doesn't turn out like WWF! :D
Would only be like one match during any event to show the spectators what its all about. Course' it would be staged and rigged etc, thats the whole point of it otherwise you would have to watch a whole event to maybe catch a glimpse of the 'best bits' and you would maybe only catch half of them if you where very lucky.
We all know its not really a spectators sport so it would have to be completely fake and probably laughable to players of the game, but the idea is to try and get non participants 'involved' and without 'staging it' I cant see how you could ensure spectators are guaranteed to see even one good move that gets the adrenalin going.
By my reckoning you only get one chance to make a first impression and the window of opportunty for that '1st impression' is probably really short for people coming over to 'take a look' at our sport. If you can capture there attention in that initial timeframe you could be onto a winner. Where as if joe public comes over to watch, sees a bunch of power rangers trading paint with little movement going on etc then hes probably going to move along pretty quickly.

I may be well wrong but oh well:)

The biggest problem with watching any paintball tournement is not being able to view the whole area. The viewing area needs to be rasied or slightly highier the the playing area.

Carrying on with the 'staging it' idea, making sure all players throughout the day realise this is a promo for the sport, not a serious tourney would maybe encourage some risky (and to spectators - exciting) moves? so then there should be a bit more action all day, and most public will get to see it, rather than just the few who see the 'staged' game??

Just an idea!
