what is it with non-US teams?

OK, here's the deal...

At one time, the UK Predators were arguably the best team in tha world. Since then, maybe Banzai and NWC have come close to consistently ranking in the world's top 10 placings - yet France and Denmark have arguably produced better teams than Britain since the decline of tha Predators.

Why? Cos IMHO there has yet to be another Brit like Marcus Davis. He was willing to do what was necessary - cutting players, bringing in new faces, training, hunting for sponsors, getting his team out to big events on a consistent basis - to win, cos he wanted it so bad.

Who you Brits had since then? Ledz seemed to pullback from the world stage to concentrate on domestic stuff, NWC didn't do it consistently enough, and Robo was either playing with US teams or else taking a new squad up to Pro level.

The Ducklings and the Tontons followed the Preds lead and it paid reasonable dividends - and both teams draw from a waaaaaaay smaller player pool.

So what I'm asking is, who is the up-coming Brit captain who will do what it takes to take a team to the very top? What's his gameplan?

Cos when he or she comes along and does it, it'll drag the Brit game up with it and you'll all benefit.

So who's gonna step up to tha plate? Cos you can bet your bottom dollar that Mr Big, for all his poking tha hornet's nest, is just waiting for this guy to phone him and say 'This is who I am, this is what we're gonna do, this is how we're gonna train, this is the players I got, interview me and help me get sponsors to make this team tha best in the world.'

Peace

Just thought id add another line to the bottom of my earlier post....

wow.....chill out 'greg', take those pills and take a seat, dont take it to heart.

As for sponsorship, Uk pro teams do get good sponsorship deals, ok not to the extent of US teams but they do. I play for a Uk Pro team and we have numerous sponsors, with more to come this year. Nobody can expect the situation to change until the Uk paintball market grows.
Less practise is not a real excuse anyway, its not a case of how cheap practise is or how often you can do it, increasing your skill means making sure your practising the right things. There are plenty of highly experienced paintball veterans in the Uk who pass on their knowledge, Robbo and Dave Stewart to name a few. The talent pool in the US only surfaces some stars because similarly experienced players over there are passing on their knowledge of the game to the younger generation.

Another thing, the cheating angle is not the right approach to defend euro teams, saying that yank teams cheat more cos their yank is just bull, its just an assumption, US teams do not win games by cheating, many of the people who read this board may not be able to appreciate it, but the standard of individual skills and teamwork required to win pro games reaches far beyond cheating.
Ill say it again, US teams are not better because they cheat, they are just practising, and being taught the right stuff.

Calling a yank a 'fag' never seems to get a good response, even if you say "hey, wanna fag?" some of them get all serious on you about their sexuality....its a no go area...and cussing people down instead of debating the issue is just plain "stooooopid" anyway

Not really P'Ball related but as someone who studied the subject at university KillerOnion's wonderfully simplistic viewpoint on economics had me LMAO

WARNING ECONOMIC LECTURE APPROACHING!

You could bear in mind that whilst Keynesian-Style interventionist economies such as Western Europes do lack the economic dynamism of lasse-faire America we do perform much better in terms of reducing poverty (The USA has the highest number of people below the poverty line in the developed world)and overall levels of education (check the international comparisons in math and science tests)

As for his economic theory being 'modern' actually it owes much to that developed by Adam Smith in the 18th Century and the rest to 1940's thinkers like Hayek

Every economic system has its good and bad points. It depends whether your priorities are equality (Socialism/Communism), economic freedom (Pure Capitalism) or a compromise (Social Democracy) as to which you thinks works best

Hmmm i wonder why I called him a fag. Could it be because he's a yank and they get upset about that kind o thing? besides what do you think he was trying to do to us Brits!

Look this was a stooooopid topic anyway, all it was started for was to get everyone arguing and piss off a load of Brits.

It's obvious that most of the yank pro teams are better than the Euro teams, I ain't arguing that, but they arn't exactly **** now are they.

Later dudes

I am going to say Chris Edwards (formerly of Shockwave) will lead the new found JCS Imperial team to the top in the near future.:D
