Its a tricky one really...there are several angles to it.

Firstly...I think that the phrase, "Respect where it is due", says it all really.
If you deserve respect, then generally, it will be forth coming. This is proper "Respect", not your gansta' rap "respec'".

If you approach the subject with the idea that you should get respect and conratulations, for winning or doing well in a game "because you are girlies"...then, it is actually you...who are creating this divide. Simply standing there on the field, saying to your self:

"Come on...Cheer!? We're girls, and we won/did well/didnt fall over!"

...is simply creating an issue that may not be there at all. Then moan about the fact that they dont say anything, because you are girls.

Why congratulate you?
I personally, always congratulate a team that has beaten us, that may be with a nod of the head or actualy verbally. Like wise, if we beat a team..I would usually say something, if they hang around on the field long enough!

Some people, just dont congratulate or otherwise.

Think about it this way...there arent very many all girl Am or Pro teams about...so, suffice to say, we can assume that most all girls teams are novice and relativly unknown.

So...if you beat a team of guys, who are quite good...or well known in the area...maybe it isnt, that they are annoyed that they have been beaten by girls, but because they have been beaten by a "lesser team" or unknown team, regardless of what the players on said team have in their playing pants, if the losing team, dont like losing to "lesser teams"...then they are still not gonna like it"

And...before anyone tries to twist what I have said, tho I dont see how it is possible: "I would like it to be known, that I have no problem, with female ballers, playing them, beating them or being beaten by them, whatsoever"

So yeah...as a wiser man than me, once said..."you have to earn true respect" and as such, regardless of your sex, if respect is due, you will get it.

I dont know about the rest of you..but at most of teh domestic tourneys I have been to...even the spectators dont particularily cheer the winning team in a game...unless its in teh finals etc...:D

Too True. Good male players and good female players dont exist. Just good players. Respect is earned, and will be given irrespective of gender. Instead of focussing on being a good female player, the focus should be on being a good player full stop. Gender should be irrelevant.

That isnt how you would get respect I dont think.

Pissing Robbo off lots, would just mean you have a pissed off Robbo to deal with..Robbo is a clever guy, so pissing him off doesnt necessarily mean, he is going to beat the crap out of you, which means, you wont get respected by people for upsetting, an individual, with Robbo's appearance.

You would most likely, earn the title of "Twat" for pissing him off.

You dont get respect by going around beating the crap out of people, or some such action...you may become feared, but that isnt respect.

Seeing as Robbo is the subject matter (I bet he loves it!:D)...I have had respect for Robbo for many years, purely through what he has achieved.
But I knew him when he wasnt as imposing, physically as he is now....so it wasnt that, which earned my respect.

Jumping unarmed into the lion's den does earn a certain kind of respect as an act of comically foolhardy bravado and is also entertaining. :)

well i didnt read all the post for starters cause didnt want my opinion influnced by others, i beleive respect in paintball is different to respect in other games like football they shake hands and drink after game and same with rugby and other sports, whereas paintball id feel like iv earned respect when people at the end of the game come off the field buzzing about the game and talkin amongst there team or other people about what they have done and didnt do and how they got owned or owned the other team, i not sure bout other people but id feel respected even if they didnt come up and shake my hand slap me on the bum and say "nice goin", i'd rather just be able to talk to them like one of the guys/gals, as voiced respect in front of the person is hard for alot of people to do, but when they leave that night they might chat on the drive home to team mates and say "gees wernt that lady/guy awesome" as thats when respect starts hittin the big time as word of mouth travels and it gets around etc etc

not sure if i made a point there but my summary is respect to males/females dosent have to be voiced or shown to exsist, it is there
