S**t Happens!!
Well I started a small paintball group for the aberdeen area but some of the guys were still at school, some guys worked at the weekends (me included) some guys didnt have much free time at all! etc etc basicly found it difficult to get a time to play!

also it didnt help when we lost the area where we played on. but we managed to find a paintball field with a manager who was happy for us to play on his area for a very reasonable price! the only problem was we had to travel for a fairly long time!

I have got about 4 people already in to paintball who can join the uni paintball team, I also have some spare sets of equipment so we can get guests! I am still looking for some land which is close to where we are for us to setup a small playing area so it will be even cheaper to play and practise!

the initial plan was to get as many people signed up and play a number of times at the paintball site so that we can see who is serious about paintball and who wants to play more often! once we have found that out, we would play out on our own land, go to rec ball days and then hopefully everyone else will want to go in to try tournies! :D

if we have enough interest for tournies then that would be great! but untill then we aint got to much planned!

there are 2 uni's at Aberdeen so hopefully I can talk the other one in to getting another team so we will have our own little inter uni paintball games :p

if you can think of anything which can help me that would be great :)

I have contacted UKPSF and have been give a sheet to register my uni, but I still gotta send it away!

There is no reason why there couldn't be more than one team from london. Or were you asking about a combined team?

A couple of people have asked about this. It depends on a few things, one of the aims IMHO of the event would be to encourage the developement of clubs at universitys. So it might be better if there was a number of people from the uni rather than just one representitive on a conglomerate team. And it would be a shame to miss out on the possible local rivalry at the event, and then the posible cooperation back home.

As there will hopefully be rental kit available, we don't need to find a full team of kitted out ballers, just enough people from each uni interested in giving it a try.

Well I thought I would add my 2pence :)

I have been told by my uni that I can go ahead and make a uni paintball team at my uni! I am going to use the whole of the summer to organise things and save money.

I believe I will start off with rec ball but hopefully if I have enough interest will have tourny playing as well!

Hi, welcome to the uni team family thingy. Good luck in starting a team, you will prob find more rec players than torno's at first, but go for it and you never know. Go for it. Any questions, post away, i am sure somebody on here will know the answer.

Good luck

Yes local rivalry would be great, anbd supporting each other, could mean cheaper training costs. And the more uni teams we can get UK wide, the better. This will enable the sport to be recognised more, and make it more mainstream, thus hopefully open to sponsorship.

On a seperate note it would be wicked to see more Uni teams playing nationals and internationals. We play in the drartford sevens, and are off to France in a month or so. Its such a laugh.

There was an inter uni tournament in 2002 werent they? why did it stop anyone know?

Back to coursework :D

6th Element (Gillie and Hatts, the same people that have brought us the PA) organised it tagged on to another event, storming the castle i think. As a result a lot of the costs were avoided making it more feasable. Last year the UKUPA (uni pb assoc.) started up but was a bit of a farce, getting nothing done and turning down good opportunities allegedly on our behalf, snubbing people that had generously offered to help us. As a result the possibility of another inter-uni staggnated.

I think i have read one of uncle Hotpoint's old posts about there being an inter uni championship in the 80's, as well.
