i'm going to proceed with my plan to get a load of booklets printed and handed out with all of the relevant details on...
Andy:

A booklet is fine, if you have somewhere to direct the readers, where they can get the services you promote.

Otherwise it is a pointles exercise :)

And you get people to go to this website how?
Promotion my dear friend, I have been on the UK Paintball scene now for 9 years, I have made alot of friends. Can't talk for everyone else but my Team consist of players from 4 different paintball companies(Sites) in Scotland, all it takes is a flyer....anything, word of mouth, look, anything is better than nothing. I have friends(well I hope so) in Planet, PMI, NPS, LiPS, PGI, WDP, Just Paintball, PA, PBUK, Manic, Pheonix to name well all of them cos I'm on my 8th can of beer and can't remember anymore. We have to try Raffles, if we don't, then what have we learned? My Dad told me once that you have to have dreams in life, without them, whats the point of life?

So, in between running a site, a team, my family of 5 kids I'll take this and run with it.

Andy, I think for the purpose of this website we need to concentrate solely on tournament, if we give people the option of links then they will look elsewhere, it's choices that has got us in this position, so remove the choices.

I have it alot up here where we have young kids, bags of skill and they have never heard of tournament paintball and follow the path to Scenario because they know no different, well, let's educate people.

Oh dear.

What started out as a sensible topic seems to have now gone the way of all other sensible topics - degraded in to personal insults .

And you wonder why nobody take us seriously...

Time for that 'closed' button I think.

Raff, the reaons why nobody takes us serious run a lot deepr than any forum disputes going on. These are just pimples on the arse of paintball, that's all.
This thread has certainly highlighted some fundamental problems we have in the UK and that was the purpose of this thread, so in that sense, it was a success tho I fear some King Canutes will be wasting their time.

As for Missy and Broccoli Dwarf?
Well, we do actually get some real gems outa that interplay with Nick's lack of humour and stoicism being parried by Missy's wit and comedic insights.
All in all, it was quite entertaining really but certainly not profoundly detrimental to the progress of paintball.

Now that is a plan. But (and it's a big one) - who do you give these 'booklets' to? Random people in the street? Punters at rec sites (without annoying site owners)?

Random people will mostly bin them.

Not trying to put your plan down - just trying to expand on it so it has maximum impact.
Punters at rec sites that have a walk on scene to start with. A lot of site owners do like walk on customers because there are a lot less overheads (nothing to clean, no markers to maintain)

I've got 5 years experience of running street teams and doing promotions for bands so I'll put that to use.

But what about the people that dont even know Walk On's exist? I didnt until I got chatting to one of the marshalls at my local site that was an ex-tourney player. And now I can't get enough of Sup Air.

Someone that starts playing walk on's/scenario is still going to be aware of tourney ball and is still going to spread the word in one way or another.

Andy,

I wouldn't go with a booklet as this can be expensive, all you need is a flyer, something small. Website addresses, photos, stuff like that. Use the action shots we all love to see. I'll have a look to see if I can maybe get some video footage on this site as well so people can actually see and hear what tournament paintball is like, i know from experience that pictures are nice, but pictures with sound work so much better, doesn't have to be massive, just maybe the same idea as they use on the start of paintball DVD's. I show my customers Breakout footage from tournaments, all guns blazing and the reaction is always the same "FKN 'ELL, listen to that, that sounds amazing" Well let's use the senses.

Nick.....a debate is a sensible discussion between two people towards an equal goal, you two are a simple clash of personalities ;)

And don't have a pop at me mate, I'm trying to find a solution to this problem! Do it again and I'll pull on the steel toe cap boots, take my black pepper and claw hammer and jump on a ferry xxxxx kiddin....before we get into a debate ;)

Love Ya x

Okay random question, if i have 15 players in my team spread across 4 sites in central scotland, where does that leave the rest of the UK, surely 75% of site have at least one tournament player/walk on player thats a member of staff?

Planet Eclipse is right next to Trafford Park....well.....could we maybe look at asking Planet/Northern Quarter to do some promotional work in there? End of the day yes, it may be an expense, but think about it, Northern Quarter see more players, players need kit.
