but has anyone ever thought about maybe working on a more positive note.

i.e we're getting there lets push harder!

instead of bawling and bashing heads. maybe we should discuss whats good about the uk not whats bad...everyone starts somewhere

Robbo I have read this though a few times and was at the UKPSF conference this year with about 70% of the site owners why did you not take the opportunity to talk to them when you had a chance.
This not an attack but a question, I don’t think you get that many site owners reading the boards so this is a bit of a rant at the wind in hopes it goes in the right direction.
Action needs to be taken but this thread and the one’s before will not change anything.
As to Campaign Cup its over priced on value for money (yes I do know what it coast to host the venue) but we shall be there don’t think we’ll see much change form £450
That’s a lot of money for 8 games (£56.25 for around two mins of fun) you try telling me that value for money lol

Why do people keep making that cost per game evaluation? If that's all you do, you really should go play recball.

Sure, it's not great to see the number of games go from ten to eight, but you can't compare a major league tournament experience with that of a local event. It's just not the same.
Feel free to take that cost per game approach, but you really pay for the whole experience. There's nothing like going out there with a real team, walking the fields until the early evening, getting together in one of the rooms you've booked and going over the plans again, watching the footage of the first day so you can adjust for the second day, chatting up the FLC's in the hotel, etc...
Local, one day events just don't compare at all. Local events are really just practice scrimmages, period.
If you can not see the difference, then your team should indeed not be enlisting for the MS. But like I said earlier, then you are fooling others and yourselves when you claim to be a paintball team. You are nothing but enthousiasts. Which is not bad in itself, but you just have to be truthful.

KOHI, you make it sound as tho I am somehow morally obligated to talk to these guys. I was in fact going to attend but a family matter came up and I couldn't make it.
And if you think any address that I would make at that conference would change the mindset of these people then you are misguided mate.

I think a lot of those guys were well aware of my views as soem of them do in fact read these boards or get communications from others alerting them to what's going on.
I doubt there were that many present who were not aware of what I was saying.
My point being, my personal address would make no difference because these people are resistant to being educated especially when the message is coming from me.

These guys are primarily their own bosses and as such have a particular mindset which is not really conducive to taking on board the idea that thus far they have fukked things up and have been running their businesses in a way that would have Mickey 'fackin' Mouse laughing his socks off.

And ya know it's not just me here, as I mentioned before, real big industry hitters like Dave YB, Ceranksi, and Avery from Dye, PMI and NPS have all made similar comments with regard to the way we do business and so anybody who personalises this attack and focusses on me is really diverting attention away from the real problem.........our site owners...end of !!

This problem is all about 'short to mid' term investment for 'mid to long' term gains, this is basically what needs to be done but the 'cash in back pocket' philosophy that so envelops our site owners will always win through because we haven't got businessmen running a lot of our sites, we got a bunch of cowboys ...

so were does that leave us and what steps do we take?
we are stuck in a ever decreasing whirl pool if the sites don't change and we cant do anything to change that.
I think more people should be like Warren @ Pure Rush (no ass kissing intended honest) he has devoloped a system that feed's itself starting with Punters then Walk-ons at reduced paint £45 inc 2000 & gun hire if needed & then you can join the club & play Sup Air comps at the SC Village & also maybe if your good enough go on to play for the Stealers a very well sponsored team. He also has a shop to buy the gear & get info, air fills, service etc & dont forget the Euro 5 Man as well. This as far as i can see is the only company in the UK that has got this type of set-up that cater for ALL types of players.;)

Wow.. unless I am talking in cost per person and you are talking in cost per team I don't get it I'm spending around 350 pounds to go to CC including flight, accomodation, paint (estimate, of course) and entry fee, and I am going from Spain (it should be a little more expensive than going from the UK...)
Ok, I forgot that the £400.00 included the Entry Fee. We are at a distinct disadvantage to all other UK Teams in that we need to fly to most events even in the UK and coming from an Island were the Landing Fees for aircraft are the most expensive in Europe means we have to pay a premium in airfare. In total, including Paint & Spending Money, I would guesstimate Campaign will cost each of our Players appprx £600.00+ but again it will be worth it.

Would it be cheaper to take a ferry?

I think that the one thing the UK *may* have is a huge pool of untapped potential.

How did everyone here in the UK find out about any kind of paintball other than recball?

The only reason I'm playing now is because I got chatting to one of the Sinners at my local site other than that I have never come across Sup Air, or tournament paintball in any form.

There could be hundreds/thousands of people who would love to play, but don't know it exists.

I had some idea's of how to promote it, offered to donate my time to a scheme but it needed funding from "sponsors". I emailed loads of companies with my idea's but only had one positive response.
