This England V France thing has been going on for years, I personally find it a light hearted jibe between two nations, much like that between the Brits and Auzzies.
I watched the finals, and saw the Tons play. They played great fast ball and deserved the win, unless their ability was assisted by illegal fire modes, which can neither be proved or disproved at this point.
The booing was for the Ton Tons as a team, not as French players. I was told this was due to their conduct over the weekend (which led to a few players getting banned). The bonusballing I saw bordered on the excessive, and I wouldn't want to be on the arse end of that, from any team/nationality/sex/religious beliefs/etc.
I think the French bashing on this forum is harmless. No-one has been over the top, the picture of the Crazy Frog was obviously meant as a joke, but if people took offence then I'm sure it will be removed.
At the end of the day, stick a bunch of players on a field in identical kit and who could tell me where any of them are from?

I'm sure it was, but if you were Fabrice, given the nature of his posts and the context of this thread, maybe you'd find the implication that you were a crazy frog a little galling. Again, would a golliwog head on a black player be acceptable, or Hitler on a German player? Osama Bin Laden on an Arab player etcetcetc
It just seems to me that sometimes there's a little bit of a double standard comes into play with regards the English and the French - that rules that apply elsewhere somehow don't any more.
I think that right now, considering the debate that has just taken place, the seriousness of the issues discussed and the fact that the person on that picture posted in this thread and seems to take the issue at heart this joke is of bad taste and out of line full stop. Considering he is a friend of mine I take offence.

I think the problem with British humour is it's very dry, and doesn't really pull any punches. This can be hard to understand by a lot of other nations, but it's by no means racist.
As I said, I think the picture should be taken down if someone has taken offence. Everyone has a right to express their views on these forums, and if light can be shed on events that are under scrutiny the people trying to help shouldn't be ostracised.
I have been on the other end of the English/French relationship while I was staying with friends in Paris. Where our jokes are more direct, French humour is a little more subtle, and can be more insulting if taken the wrong way. Luckily for me I had an interpreter and we all ended up getting very drunk!
I hope that all this can take a back seat and we can finish discussing the matters at hand.
