As the marker market at the moment is so poor many people are put off selling their gats until they can get a better price for it.

I for one just got my ego and love it to bits, i wont be selling that for a while as its just so sweet.

My strange shocker however i bought a couple of months ago around DMA time and really like it, but there is a little bit in the back of my mind that thinks i should sell it. The reason i dont is that i would make a massive loss and the gat is worth lots to me as i have up graded about everything in it!! (another problem with most shockers)

As i am just reading PGi mag at the mo, i cant help to think of the article about Tyler Harmon of Oakland Assassins, page 32 is of him ripping his gat, a Ripper 2.5 timmy, that aint exactly the newest of gats an as John C said, "if it aint broke dont fix it!"

gud topic guys, makes for some interesting reading and some well valid points.

i think the ion has had more of an impact on the market than people think.
i mean before you couldnt even imagine a gat under 400quid to have break beam eyes.or even to reach the 15mark.

the ions are selling like hot cakes, you cant even sell them second handed because everyone that wants one has already gone out and brought a new one!

why buy a ir3 or something when you can get a brand new, untouched, know where its been and what things have been done to it for alittle more??

its gud for comsumers as they can get something that can compete with the big names out there for 400quid for a whole setup.

to every up in paintball there will be a down and selling ur gat is just one of them.

hopefully tho this change will mean that newer people are not intimidated by people will 900quid gats and will mean everyone is playing a more level field=emphasis on skill.
obviously this statement is directed to more local, small tourniments.

WHY FIX IT WHEN ITS NOT BROKE?
MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!

i think that there are a few plp who knew what effect the ion would have on the second hand market and the guys at smart parts.
we all now know how good the gat is and all stuck with stuff we would rather keep than sell for peanuts.
and to the leval field that you were saying about.ive seen a few good teams out there now with full ion set ups.and mince teams were each player is stood there with £1000 each player in kit.and i heard one rumour that a punter site mite start to use ions ? which if you think about it they use more paint site make more profit.this would also draw more plp into the sport

Yeah - cos our Ions have only played nearly an entire season without a single non-user inflicted problem

John, you don't have to like the Ion but your constant SP-bashing is frankly a little boring. I don't like Angels much (why the hell do you need a TV screen on your gun again?), but I have the common courtesy to keep quiet on the subject.

Ions are simple to maintain, as rugged as any other electro out there, perform as good as any high-end gun and are cheap as chips. :)

cheers mr pink, the ions is great as long as youve got a gud one.
cheap and throws paint like the best of them.

im not to sure in the ion would be used as rental markers.
the ion is reliable and easy to maintain, but not the easiest out there.plus i dont think it would be a gud idea to give a renatl player something with a battery in it.

And as the original poster said, that's NOT GOOD ENOUGH. For the rental market, you need markers that will work for the whole season DESPITE your ignorant rental customers doing everything they can to break them.

If an Ion can suffer from user-inlicted problems, then it's not good enough to be a rental. That's nthing against the Ion, it's meant to be a inexpensive performance marker, and performance doesn't generally jive well with ueber reliability.

A rental gun needs to be reliable and low maintinence.
Not a 1 week in use, 1 week being fixed marker.
There is at least one place that already uses Ions as rental markers--of course it is an indoor field and they do make Ions right next door. ;) Very reasonable rates too. There other rental guns are Shockers and Nerves.

Sorry - let me expand on my comment.

Our Ions have not had a single problem that wasn't caused by not screwing the gripframe screws into the solenoid when changing to Hybrid grips;)

Apart from that (which would never happen in a rental enviroment), they have worked flawlessly.

Better? :)
