Not so, if you account for value lost due to resale price.

If a thousand dollar gun (without eyes) can be resold for $500, but you could get it refit with eyes for less than $500, it is cheaper to get the eyes installed.

If you intend to take that $500 from the sale, reinvest it in a new gun, you are more likely than not going to spend more than $850. I base all these figures on generous real life values. Lots of $1000 Timmies are selling for prices under $400, while TAG installs Predator boards and eyes for about $350.

I have been playing for a few years now, not that I am an old hand, but I haven't bought a gun without antichop eyes in about three years. There have been some availble, but I never understood how someone could not see them as basically necessary.

What I am saying is,

Take an Angel A4 £250 ish you can add eyes for £150 for a good job = £400

Why bother when you can pick up an 05 Speed £325.

Reduce the price of your A4 sell it quick, buy the 05 Speed and you are better off. Also you have a newer marker with better internals and the newer milling.

Plus parts are a lot cheaper for the aftermarket boards.
I have not seen any go for that low. An 03 Speed went for £200 the other day. Anyway, even at £300 if you can get an 05 Speed for an extra £25 you would, wouldn't you?

You would know about the after market bits.

^ and looking at it from the seller's point of view, my contention is that this is the way to go. If resale were a touch higher, then maybe buying a new gun would make sense to me. Last year I sold a Timmy for $900... this year, samne gun would fetch $300-$400, same condition. Things have changed, at least here. I am certain of the price point in the UK, but it sounds like you guys are about there if you aren't there now.
