Fair comment, and you're right I don't really expect an answer. Obviously Mags rely heavily on advertisments and I for one don't fancy paying £200 odd per issue.

errrrr,

Has anyone got any real valid facts on this???. So far I've only seen rumour and conjecture. I know little about patents and all that, but have SP actually asked for royalty payments????.

I tried reading the other threads on this, but decided not to bother with all the rubbish being posted by some extremely childish (pot kettle black) posters ("people who use SP markers are Gay" ).

As to the Euro posters here, has anyone had a reaction from SPE??? because any SP to Nazi comparisons are in the worst possible taste and don't have any place in reasoned debate. I'd expect it on PBN, but we normally have a reputation for being a bit more sensible.

Perhaps we can keep the hysteria to a minimum until we know the full details and implications. I'm not trying to defend any attempt to price companies out of business, or impose ridiculous royalty payments, but we only have supposed's third of fourth hand from "names" on other forums.

Of course you have a right to express your alarm and concern, but before you Europeans boycott SPE, don't you want the full, from the "horses mouth" skinny, I know I do.

Thanks for the link Matt, but I'm still unsure as to how holding the patent for an Electrical Trigger Operated Marker is going to filter down to us here in lill'ol England? I'm sure there's a huge legal minefield to be crossed before we even get near the consequences of such patent. Can they not own the Patent, but make the idea / technology available for free?

I mean B.E. hold the patent for some other forms of Marker, as does NPF so why's this so much more terrible (although I'm trying to go through it in between working so.......?).

I dunno, just would like someone impartial to put it in laymans terms. I mean my looking through the US patent website, it would appear that BE own the patent (5,349,939) on all semi auto markers so wtf, I mean everybody bitches about them, is SP the new pariah?

I haven't read the whole thread so excuse me if this has been mentioned already but I guess this will affect electronic grip frames like the E-Blade. If so, I would much rather spend as little as I can on a decent cocker and pay say £500 for an E-Blade than for out god knows how much on a timmy or shocker.

Why pursue or broaden the patent if you don't intend to do anything with it???

In my opinion if this 'rumour and conjection' is enough to worry the likes of Aaron Alexander from AKA, Tom Kaye From AGD and Bud Orr from WGP, then I'll take it very seriously!!!
