I disagree, you would definitely get more rationale from the cucumber question. I have some experience with Fruit and Veg, and I can tell you that there is a scientific timeline that affects the price of cucumbers. Not so with the MS methinks.

Trust me my big - black - fat - momma friend, the MS have a timeline.......and if they continue to employ people like Ulrich, it will sew the seeds for some other enterprising expansionists to look upon these shores ....

If they play it smart, they can forestall it, if they don't, then.....well, I'll let you fill the blanks in Missy ..... I'm sure you are more than qualified to :)

Baca, they won't explain because there is nothing to explain ... it makes them money...end of !!

It's like going into a shop and asking them to explain why they costed a cucumber at their selling price ...... looking for any deeper rationale is gonna be nonsensical and will only serve to blow the whole facade.
I don't disagree, Pete, but somebody at the MS posted up the page that offers the prize percentage formula as being an informative and correct calculation and while it appears to be simply made up out of whole cloth and bear no resemblence to anything real or approximating reality I think it only fair to give the MS an opportunity to explain. It could be I'm simply missing something or my math skills have deteriorated cus of the Alzheimer's. What was I on about ... ? :)

..........an explanation is of course predicated upon the idea you have an understanding .... now ya see, there's the problem.....

Enough about your sexlife Missy - please :p

Pete:

I am wondering in what context that was said to Rich?

I mean - you and me both have been know to say some fairly "out there" things when driven to it.... so what prompted the remark - if anything?

I agree that the head ref should be courteous in general - but once in a blue moon you retort in the manner in which you are spoken to?

I maintain that Ulrich is doing a good job so far this year in regards to managing the refs and the rules (based solely on what I saw in Marseille).... AND that he could do with a trip to refining school :)

You all know if was one of the staunchest critics of the reffing standard last year, as Missy has spent countless hours pointing out to everyone... but I DO feel the level was better in Marseille than ever before, even if not quite satisfactory yet.... but progress IS progress, and should be acknowledged.

Well, since Rich is no fool and since he also took offence and if you look at what was said, I would hazard a wild guess it wasn't meant as a compliment....and bearing in mind also the character of this man ... it don't take no scientist to work out what went down Nick.

I agree that the head ref should be courteous in general - but once in a blue moon you retort in the manner in which you are spoken to?
FFS Nick, stop making excuses for this prick, I was having a meal with my wife, minding my own business and I get a phone call from Herr Ulrich and he insults me .. you weren't there Nick, I was, I know what i am talking about, you don't ... end of !!
And that is the second time this idiot has done it to me, and you weren't there that time either but about 8 other people were and if you'd like to call them up - I'm sure they can furnish you with a run down of what happened.
And once again, I was minding my own business and this prick comes up and sticks his nose in my face and starts laying down the law in an arrogant and rude fashion .... I won't tolerate that Nick, not from anybody and so I was the one who reciprocated and I left him in no doubt he should shut the fcuk up..... and he did, he kept it tight shut from then on ... I can't stand rudeness Nick, not from arrogant *******s like him.

I maintain that Ulrich is doing a good job so far this year in regards to managing the refs and the rules (based solely on what I saw in Marseille).... AND that he could do with a trip to refining school :)
Good for you Nick, I am glad you are so pleased with him but spare a thought for those people who haven't had such pleasant experiences of Herr Ulrich, there are a few out there, I am speaking from my own personal experiences of him.

You all know if was one of the staunchest critics of the reffing standard last year, as Missy has spent countless hours pointing out to everyone... but I DO feel the level was better in Marseilles than ever before, even if not quite satisfactory yet.... but progress IS progress, and should be acknowledged.
Hoorah - hoorah, fan 'bloody' tastic, I do actually applaud better judging, the sport needs it but ....... unless he learns how to talk to people both courteously and reasonably which as I have mentioned previously is an integral part of his job, then he needs to change or be changed.
My own personal opinion, based upon my own personal experiences is that he should fcuk right off and never come back but then again, it's personal with me ........ and you know how that can go sometimes

Maybe I put the question the wrong way... what I meant was "did the guys say that to Rich unprovoked - or as a retort to something said to him?"

Anyway... I'm not questioning that the guy was rude to you, he has been to me several times in the past..... and I am not contenting that he could learn some people skills.... but I just look at the "plus side" too - which is that he is doing a better job in his position that anyone else in the history of the Series, and that factors in, in terms of how he is performing in his job.

- Lord knows we've had some huge failures in that job in the past.... so until someone steps up that can both do the job well and treat people with respect, I tend to think I would rather have an a..hole doing a good job, than a nice guy messing things up.

Anyway - next time (there is always a "next time" in paintball) I have a run in with him, I am certain my blood will start boiling too, and I suddenly see things your way :D

Nick, I think you are better able to see the 'bigger picture', in that the bigger picture is of course (and rightly so) the state of the judging and in that respect, you are right to draw attention to it. I apologise for snapping at you but I am pretty sure if you had the recent experiences I have had with the Millennium and then had this jerk present his own brand of 'customer service' to you in the way he did me, then perhaps (in fact I know) you would not be looking for any back doors for him to crawl thru.

At the moment, I am finding it difficult to consider such positives of better judging because of my recent run-ins with this guy and so I will call u and tell you what happened.

I think when I really try to put my rational head on this matter, I think that if a person talks to me and treats me in the manner he has done so far, then he will have no problem in treating anybody else in this way and I think we are both old enough and wise enough to recognise certain traits in people as being pervasive in their character.

So my whole point is, playing Paintball in the Millennium is a business for them, we are its customers and therefore should be treated with respect.

People of the character of Ulrich may well have some success in their primary function in the same way as some traffic wardens can be hugely successful in amassing tickets but........I don't think I have to spell this out mate in that we ain't wrong doers, we are his customers mate and he has that traffic warden mentality .... and then some.

Boogie is a prime example of doing things the right way, he's a baller who has been there and done it, Ulrich is no more a baller than I'm a frikkin ballet dancer, he has no pedigree, no experience and no real idea of what balling is all about and more importantly what ballers are like.
All he knows is the rule book, Boogie knows it too mate and he has EVERYBODY'S respect, Ulrich doesn't.
Ulrich's attitude is ALL wrong, he may get better judging for a while.....but at what cost mate, what cost?
I'll call you....
