Pregnancy and Tournaments!!

Lots of pregnant women have played paintball, But i do not think I have seen it at tourny level.
On a personal pespective and since we do not have rules about this issue itself, I would have to make a ruling myself and i would say if your prenancy is noticeable, I would not be happy with you playing even with allowable padding.
But as Budda said at that point, I do not think you would want to risk anything.

But the original point about would you be allowed to wear protection over your "baby bump".
Any player may wear any type of hard armour on any part of their body, But saying you did not feel any hit is no excuse.

But good question though.

I'm offended Gups, as if any man would say such a thing................................... a real man would just drop the 'pregnant' word and let the statement read...'females shouldn't be playing paintball'

The youngest "medalist" at an Olympic event was Freddie Green, who was a 3.5 month foetus when his mother Lucinda Green did the 3-day event some years ago. This was with doctors permission, and anyone who suggests that the cross country phase of a 3-day event isn't as stressful and potentially harmful as paintball has obviously never watched it! Most horse riders continue riding during pregnancy up until the bump gets in the way too much.
There have been a few cases recently reported on women giving birth without even realising they are pregnant, and if a woman has an "irregular" cycle then she often won't now until at least 3 months or more. So I would say that the comments about just how far along the woman is are the most practical, i.e. once it starts to clearly show or movement is restricted. Otherwise, as long as (non-bounce) protection is worn I can't see any reason why a preggie woman shouldn't play and keeping her fitness levels up and stress levels down is all to the good.

I think the paintball aspect of the argument is irrelevant....... the human body is pretty well designed and I doubt paintballs would cause much distress to an experienced pregnant baller. My problem is that bunker slamming is banned as is physical contact, but then so too are wiping and playing on........ doesn't mean it never happens. Anyway, I wouldn't be comfortable making a run at a bunker if I knew a pregant player could step out in front of me...... an 18 stone collision would do a damn site more damage than a dozen paintballs......... would the same doctor who allows horse riding or running allow a sport that involved potential collisions? All well and good when the only person taking responsibility for the unborn child is the pregnant player, but on the field there are 13 other players who could be left with something difficult to live with...... I couldn't, so I think I'd be sitting out too. Not judging the decision to play as right or wrong (I'm never going to be pregnant so I'll never know for sure) but I, personally, couldn't charge around a paintball field or fire paintballs at a preganant women........ it's not sexism, it's just natural selection..... human evolution has kinda' steered us away from that sort of thing. So, again, I'm not saying it's right or wrong to play paintball pregnant, just that I, myself couldn't risk taking to the feild too. Just a choice, not a judgement......

Maybe it's me, but there seem to be a lot of guys here with no idea of what it's like to be pregnant just jumping in to the deep end of the pool.

When we found out that my wife was pregnant with my now almost 9-month old daughter, we had already booked a ski holiday. IMO, the risks of falling in skiing would be similar to the risks of diving in paintball (maybe greater, as you'd be moving faster). We checked with our doctor who said that it was no problem, just don't go overboard. She's been skiing for well over 20 years, so there was no problem, even on the black runs.

As mentioned above, most pregnant women would not feel the urge to be running around fields all day after a particular point in their pregnancy. In the first few months, she is unlikely to even notice (except the morning sickness if she gets it).

As for litigation, everyone playing signs a waiver. This waiver states something along the lines of "I know that paintball involves a chance of personal injury", so by signing that form you accept that risk.

I reckon if anyone wants to play and understand the risks, let them. The idea of neoprene sounds like a good option of padding to me (isn't that provided by most of the packs these days anyway?).

Jesus Christ!!! What is it with the women on these boards this week??? Has some1 came knocking on all your doors and started handing out blonde tabs or sumthin, tha pair of you really need to stop being so.... well I dont know what the word is but your trying to make out that playing ball when pregnant is all good when really its stupid, selfish and YOU SUK for even debating it!

Liz I ll try to make this as clear as I can......... Paintball is potentially more harmfull than running a long distance through the country side (why the hell would u do that anyway is beyond me) because................... NO ONE IS SHOOTING AT YOU ARE THEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And your right I aint ever watched cross country before, not really my idea of an exciting sport to watch
