ouch

Now now now, is this not an open forum, and I thought it was. Did I ask for a UK only based mag, nope, don't think I did.

Robbo, why do you attack people with an opinion that you disagree with, is it not the fact that everyone is entitled to an opinion? PGI Big Wigs again why are you so quick to slag off UK ballers, YES it is massive in the States, I appreciate that, do you really think I am so narrow minded as not to see it. Heres what I'm TRYING to say.

Do we actually have any official policy of who writes for PGI, I know when I first started the trips down South to the shi**y tournaments you are so quickly to slag off, I saw the likes of Ledz etc walking around in his sexy white T shirt taking photos and writing articles which were then in PGI Scoreboard, I think it was the World Scoreboard. If we as UK ballers get together and maybe ask someone if they would cover tournaments would we then be in a better position to have the outcome published? If thats the case I'm sure someone for a Team who is maybe not playing that day could cover the event. Robbo, again you played the Simply the Best 5 man in August, in your opinion was it such a bad event?? I actually was very impressed. The coverage we are talking about is not for SELF glory, despite your accusations but recognition for the efforts of the teams and indeed the event organisers.

Again my thread has been talked about before, hold on, no, it has not been spoken about in a civil and well presented manner, more a 'We think you talk sh** Sid and have not got a clue' and 'We are right and you are wrong' Cracking attitude

The millennium series is fantastic, yes, I play in it, well, Toulouse and Campaign twice, no I don't want a watch, I agree with PR with the big EURO events but PLEASE can we maybe even consider giving half a page to the smaller tournaments. Campaign had 110 team approx from across the World, fantastic and an amazing venue/event. Midland Masters will have 40 Teams from across the UK....in my eyes and obviously only my eyes this warrants some type of report.

I don't give a flying f*** if I NEVER get my face, team, Angel, Zap sticker in PGI, but I would like to see an effort made to try and help the UK tournament scene, if it means me buying a camera and maybe reporting on events when I'm not playing then fine I will do it, I know there are other people out there who probably have fantastic reporting skills and can use a camera so come on down and let's start sending PGI some articles and photos of events, not 3 teams from Scotland had a kick about on Saturday before the critics jump in again, but bigger UK tournaments, Midland Masters, Temple, Series 2002.......

Phew, hands are getting sore now. Before you give me the hammering on the board please all I'm asking is you consider my opinions.

I don't think a mag will be released to compete with PGI, it is a fantastic mag, great reviews, great hints and tips, even if sometimes we might be going over old ground.

Do I think the UK deserves more, yes, or I would not put my head on the chopping block again and again. Will I gain anything from this, probably not, but again...we can but try.

Okay used up my 30 minutes lunch hour, hands are killing me, frustrated that the high up people in the forum have publicly told us in no uncertain terms that UK paintball is sh**.....

I don't think it's sh**, I think it needs encouraged.

Sid once again talking pants according to some folks.....

See you all later.....and hey, nothing personal chaps, just opinions

Sid buddy, i made the same mistake a couple of weeks ago, I know we are allowed an opinion and that, But as Robbo pointed out to me a couple of weeks ago on the same topic; it doesnt mean we all have to agree and respect that opinion.

In fact fu*k it, im gonna do a report on the marchbrook event(AND TRY TO PLAY AT THE SAME TIME!), take some pics and send them to PGI if thats ok with the dudes at the top?

give me some tips on writing a report Robbo CJW_45@yahoo.com please

No-one's saying Brit tournaments are **** - well maybe Robo is but he doesn't mean it! - the thrust of tha argument is simply that PGI already gives too much scope to Brit tourneys when compared to the size of tha Brit readership. I can't speak for Mr Big, but I'm guessing that even if you boys send in loads of reviews of small Brit tourneys they won't get published...but then the small US/Scandinavian/Aus/wherever ones don't either man.

PGI is only gonna cover big events and games that will hopefully appeal to a large-ish section of readership.

Look at Rancid's figures dude...If only 10% of PGI readers are tournament players, I make it something like 1% of all readers who are Brit tourney players!!! Really, there is probably too much tourney in PGI period...

PGI ain't anti-Brit/German/France/wherever - it just tries to be the best mag it can for all ballers. Now there will always be disagreements about how best to do this, but no matter how much you and others bang the 'More Brit tourneys in PGI' drum, it won't make any difference.

Here's a question for ya: why are you so bothered? Why will it help the Brit scene to grow only if the tournaments are published in PGI? More ballers see this website than tha magazine - first time Brit players come here waaaaaaay b4 finding PGI, so surely it'd be better to get your reports on-line?

Now if you took your idea of having good UK tourney reports that a bunch of y'all get t'ogether to write and photograph and send em in to Mr Big to put on P8ntballer, I bet he'd do it.

Over to you...

Even if i did write a report with the help of others, i think TJ's point has gotten accross to me anyhows. its not worth it, in terms of a targeted audience (1%!), i know of many people who would love to read on about UK tourneys, but then again i always skip a page or to when it comes to the small US tourneys (even NPPL sometimes) and big rec games.

Teej, u know your stuff........

If i did do a report, who could i send it to?

P>S im sure ive seen series 2001 reports in PGI sometimes?

Excellent

Excellent Chris,

I hope the guys at PGI can give you some advice and help, I know Alien can take some excellent photos.

I'm not having an attack on anyone, but you can disagree with someone without getting into an attack on their person and opinions. I have alot of respect for Robbo and his achievements both on UK soil and US, he is indeed a man who has done alot for the sport in general, I however have done diddly squat, other than help raise the profile in Scotland (Small Country attached to the top of England) and make friends in the tournaments I have played.

When I were a lad (hovis music) I read PGI and it's coverage of the Preds, NWC, Shades and so on and so forth, I watched the Mag grow through time and as said before think it is still a good quality magazine, not enough nudity though ;)

All I'm trying to say is give a little, just a tiny little bit, if the rest of the World start writing articles as well, brilliant, okay heres a thought.

Set a tournament coverage criteria.

You asked for a sensible suggestion, okay here it is.

Set a criteria for which PGI will consider publication.

There must be X amount of quality photos.
A well documented and unbiased report on the event.
Teams must exceed 25 or maybe 30.

So there must be over say I dunno 150 patricipants.

Hows that?

Not a bad idea surely......gies a job ;)

Robbo.....respect mate, I have it for you and as Al Woods put it, your bigger than me, but my Dad..well...hehe

And as for tha 'high and mighty, notmlistening yaddayaddayadda' stuff - that's just plain bull****.

All four Brit guys at PGI grew up playing tha S****orpe 5-mans, HCLs and so on - do you think they don't take tha criticsm to heart? Do you think they wanna piss you off?

Nope - they know how to run their business and that with the best will in the world, they ain't printing that stuff. Ever think that maybe there's nothing some of em would like more than print Brit tourney stuff cos that's their roots - plus it'd stop em getting **** from everyone. But if that happened they'd be out of a job and you'd have no mag.

Ain't nobody disrespected you or your opinion Sid - the guys just fight tha same ol' fight and get tired of it when all they're trying to do is make the best pball mags and site that they can.

Wouldn't you get pretty tired if someone kept telling you you were doing your job wrong?

Now call Mr Big and get that web reportage going so we can all be friends again.

Jeez, you Brits are soooooooo uptight.

Peace

Actually, over to me....

I'm not prepared to produce a magazine that doesn't accurately reflect the interests of the majority of our readership, which means you ain't gonna find anything but the biggest events covered. P8ntballer, however, as TJ points out, is the perfect place to get your reports seen. Not only is it the first place brit paintballers come, but it's also interactive: you can discuss the event afterwards... Email a report and a coupla pics to us, whatever the event, and you're pretty much guaranteed to get it published online. god, I'll even open up a new section of the website if you can pusuade me that enough reports will come in to make it worthwhile.

TJ

TJ,

Sorry mate posted my reply to Walker as you were posting, why do I bang on, guess I'm a passionate man mate.

Heres one for you then, you know Warpig have a tournament coverage thing going on, well, can P8ntballer do the same?

Maybe people can send reports and photos to P8ntballer and there can be a section for World Tournaments, simply nip in, have read, and leave, and....oh dare I say it, can it have a counter so PGI can analyze the number of people viewing the Country and then maybe they can have a published tournament in the paper copy of the Country that seems to have the most hits...just a though again.

Thanks for your opinions TJ.....

hope no one lynches me in Amsterdam, not that I will care as I'll be window shopping and mostly smoking pot....;)

Respect to the P8ntballer crew
