Searching for the pro-tour....:S
Can I interrupt the Bitching session

Just my thoughts but surely if paintball was totally speed related then why am I always the guy taking the flag for my team, or being last man in?

I don't shoot particularly fast guns, I'm 6'4" and 15.5 st so im a fairly sizable target. I'd say that the fact I keep my head in, plan my moves and generally play a controlled game was the key to my success?

eh?

I'm not embarrassing you am I?

Just going back to the point - and this isn't one-up-manship - but, how many people who believe that the skill factor is that much higher today/inflata-ball, played for any length of time or to any level in the woods?

Alex, for instance, you sound as though you've been playing for a while?

Alex

I hate to say this but Duff is right mate. Rancid has been around longer than most people. He is the Magazine owner also he owns this site. He is also a friend of mine so please edit your post to a more construtive point of veiw.
What you have just done is like me walking into your house and telling your mum or dad to f*ck off. And I am sure they would not like that!

The idea is to have a debate now if everyone just came on here and told people to f*uck off it would be boring, have a difference of opinion but please also have some respect that people do know more and have been around longer than you might have been.

Thanks Alex I am sure you understand.

Contentious lot, ain't ya

I find the Brits incapable of civil discourse. Probably all that beer drinking.

As someone pointed out the skill sets are a bit different. Plainly there is some overlapping from Old Skool to New but even there the focus has shifted to one degree or another. There is also little doubt today's best ballers are generally more athletic and technically proficient. They have to be given the distances involved in today's game along with the tidal wave of electronic chuckers.
And I am way old enough to have done my fair share of scootin' and lootin' in the woods. ;)

This is a horses for courses answer really,

There is skill involved in both sides of the game.

I played a 5 man tourney with some top players and we were un beaten on the Sup'air field. However we lost 2 out of 3 woods games because the skill required is different.

One of the guys on the team had been playing p8ntball for 16 years or so and knew what to look for on the wood land fields and walked them all for a long time picking key bunkers etc but as a (scratch) team we were not as used to this as Supair and the results showed it.

A great wood land team would get whooped at supair but supair players would get whooped on a wood field.

Neither is less skill full but their skill is refined to what areas they need to know.

Heck why is their different levels at a supair tourney because no team is equal you are graded according to your ability and put in a division. Not one team is equal.
