i suppose its wrong sayin that their isnt any skill at all... but these days it seems very little skill is used... all i see when im watching a tourny are people running into their barricade popping out and lasing off 150 paintball in under a minute... its all about speed these days!! 5-10 years ago, before angels or e-blades were even thought off.... cockers were in, cockers couldn't fire faster then 10 or if they cud, the persons good with their fingures ;) anyway.... in my eyes little skill is used anymore!! but only in my opinion not my team mates... i may be wrong, its only an opinion...

but i bring this question to you lot....

Is paintball still about skill or is it about the speed of your gun and paint?

Post your views!
Paintball is a hella lot of skill, and a little luck (those little balls move fecking fast after all). I agree speed is important, but not of the gun, but the players work rate. The only time the speed of you gun really gives you an advantage is on the break, and when you catch the fool on the move.

Get you team to the practice field and work on the basic skills of paintball, snap shooting, etc. After all without the basic stuff down solid, how can you create a foundation on which to build on?

Just my opinion, hope it helps:D

Try sorry Rancid, unless you think telling the site and magazine owner to **** off is likely to improve your long term posting prospects...

Hey Rancid

Looks like you got a live one there :D

Alex, Rancid only posts like that to pi$$ people off so its really not worth it

My 2 cents (for what they are worth):

Nudge, I assume that you've not been balling long (forgive me if you have but your coments do suggest that you are new); you don't have top of the range gear and you find it hard to compete? I guess most people who started playing after the dawn of the Semi felt the same way. Its easier to compete with a faster gun, this is true, but the reason that you are feel out-classed by people with better guns is probably becuase the players behind the guns are more experienced 'ballers.

ROF is probably a contributing factor, but not the most important.

I hope that what I have said does not come across as patronising, my intention was to be a bit more useful than posts such as Robbos:
Nudge, you have no real idea regarding the fundamentals of paintball, have you?
This comment may be true, but its not exaclty helpful

Nope, it's always worth having a discussion about summat, what isn't acceptable is telling someone to **** off for having a differing point of view, whether it's Joe recballer or Oli Lang.

Switch me off then duffy. But my post still stands, and I didnt tell you to F*** off I was taking the piss out of the fact that you think manners should be displayed to someone who has no idea what he is talking about and is obviously trying to figure out why he has turned up to holmbush for the last two years on sundays and clive isnt running a tourney there.

>>>No, you told a poster to '**** off back to the woods'

I was taking the piss out of the fact that you think manners should be displayed to someone who has no idea what he is talking about

>>>Really? Someone who has worked in the paintball industry for 14 years? You should ask some of your sponsors what Rancid knows about Paintball - try Ged or Owen for starters. Or Piper.

and is obviously trying to figure out why he has turned up to holmbush for the last two years on sundays and clive isnt running a tourney there.

>>>Whether Rancid is being serious or not, some players DO feel that the skill level has lessened since they came out of the woods, if you want to argue, fine, if you want to tell them to '**** off back to the woods' then head on over to Smacktalk with the other muppets.

Thought you guys were sponsored by Smart Parts Europe not WDP???

And even if the poster didn't know what they were talking about (although in this case Rancid does!) YES manners should still be applied.
