I am not trying to preach morality or ethics and within the current NPPL and Millennium rules most of us would do what Robbo suggests. But...the roster rules are a joke and will continue to perpetuate the endless discussions about sandbagging and mass usage (abuse?) of ringers.

The roster and registration system currently employed by PSP (APPA) is FAR superior and much fairer. Also it will continue to get better as their database grows. I believe that the problems with rosters would mostly disappear within a couple of seasons if all the major and semi-major leagues would adopt this system.

I've tried to get a discussion going about this before and I don't understand why the APPA system has mostly been ignored. And I don't understand why the EPA has started promoting this system.

Steve, I think you will find that the 2005 season for both the NPPL in the US and whatever happens in Europe will both be locked down rosters (within reason) so this can't happen again.

All i can say is that the one thing this top 17 league is going to do is expose any pretenders, any team playing in that league that got there with the help of another team is going to stick out like a sore thumb when it gets to the point where they have to fend for themselves, then we will see the ones that belong rise to the top and the fakes sink to the bottom.

Steve, although the reasons for having substitutes may have been different, the result was still the same, people who do not normally play for Tigers or Nexus or Joy or Entourage representing said team.
Personally I do not like the situation but as I said in answer to a previous poster who was trying to take the moral high ground in criticisng my decision, I wonder how many teams out there would refuse the likes of Oli Lang if he became available for a crucial match.
At a rough guess I would say 'a big fat zero' !
So it would seem it's not the principle but the degree :)
Robbo, we're behind you all the way.

I doubt there are many teams out there that would have refused the likes of the Russian Legion!

However, I would like to submit a request regarding which Nexus players to bring. I won't even mention Jack and Ledz because I'm sure they will be here with Planet. So, how about Nick, Jamie, Junior, Bowen, Tommy, Leigh, and MacD? :D :D

Go Nexus!

Hope you all make it!

We need to have our Euro friends next year with us in the NPPL.
So you all do what you have to do to make it, and dont give a flying fcuk about the haters.

As for us, our players have a 3 week vaccation without any practice. Just chillin and watch the fight in SD from distance :)

Maybe I'm a bit slow on this but: By the Russian Legion not competing in Malaga and helping out Nexus in San Diego, they gave up the last hopes they could have had to qualify themselves for the NPPL. Unless Sergei (sp?) has another plan, is it all but confirmed that RL will be playing NXL next year?

Pete is just doing what it takes to make the 18, presumably because he has worked out why Nexus have been 'deficient' this season and knows he will need more than a few weeks to put it straight.
The fact that he has been so up front about it is refreshing, however I too do not think things like this are right. It is a loophole in the rules that is now being exploited to the most extreme degree.
In a way this is a good thing, as the roster rulings are sure to be locked down to the last decimal place for next season, meaning this sort of thing will be over.
In fact Pete might even get the credit for finally stamping it out

wait a minute - is that ironic?

1) How does the APPA do anything to stop this? Players can still register for whatever team they want at each event as long as they are in the correct ranking (i.e. Pro only on Pro or Am team).

2) RL is an X-Ball team, I'm sure they have enough to loan some players to Nexus and still field a 7 man team. if they wanted.

Ant, some people might also say that any team who hasn't even played the NPPL thus far ( 2 or 3 players for one event doesn't count) might well find it a tad more difficult when going at it for real next year.
I am confident we can hold our own as our top 7 position last year showed and it's just a matter of duplicating that form; you have yet to prove yourself Stateside.
And Ant, try to read at least some of the thread next time and you might have gleaned why we might not be 'sticking out like a sore thumb' next year.
The benefit of the doubt might have been politic mate.
Peace
