Yes, I mean the quarters-finals. That particular NPPL specific vernacular is still new to me and I always confuse the two.
Shockwaver should be 11th, not 9th. Their total eligible points at this point is higher, but I am sure they hope to score better in San Diego than they did in Huntington Beach.
Realistically speaking everyone from Redz on down has to make it to Sunday to be guaranteed for next year. While the magic number for Redz is 16, I am pretty sure that scoring 640 prelim points will get you into Sunday, so its all the same thing.
What will make things easier for everyone already in the top 18 is the influx of first time quality teams. Each spot taken up by Strange, Infamous2, Bob Long 2, Legacy and the like is one less spot taken up by a 'chaser'. Likewise, if the big 5 (Dynasty, XSV Avalanche, Arsenal, Infamous) all make it to Sunday, those are spots taken away from 'chasers'.
One thing that's been really beaten into me this year: with all the scoreboard hawking and determining percentages and probabilities; it all comes down to how the team plays. I can figure out the 27 things that need to happen for the 'Canes to make it in without shooting a ball. Or the team can go out there and win games and make it all a moot point. I don't play, so I have too little to do to occupy my time at events, which is where all this nonesense comes from. I should probably buy some Mad Libs or something.
What all this comes down to is, for any and all of Redz, Rage, Smoke, Shockwave, Sedition, Buswackers, Tigers, Entourage, Brass Eagle, Nexus & TonTons; make the semi's and you are in. Don't make the semi's and you may be overtaken by Triple Tap, Bob Long, Bad Company, Worms and Jax.
