If PSP and Millennium are to work together very closely next season, which several people who have actually been in the meetings about such have said, then wouldn't it only be logical and likely that both leagues would have exactly the same format so that teams would earn points on both sides of Atlantic? And wouldn't it be illogical for the pros to go from regular PSP-style X Ball to X Ball Lite?

RRI:

Laurent has said publicly several times, that before the MS choose a format, the CPL captains will be invited to a meeting to have their say.

If the Captains don't want full X-Ball - it won't happen

Nick, full XBall ain't even an option here but ponder this mate.....if the PSP / NPPL integration decided upon a 5 man XBall lite format and the captains voted for a 7man XBall lite option, do you think our socialist enterpise would succeed or would a 5 man mandate be thrust upon us?

It would be an occasion maybes where the majority vote runs contra to the ultimate interests of those who just voted.

What's this about XBall being too much paint becasue European teams arn't sponsored ENOUGH?

There are plenty of teams stateside who play Divisional X-Ball whose paint sponsorship is - zip. They pay the going event rate for paint for all of it.

Maybe the European teams just need to sack up a bit. Reduce the game time. Reduce the roster sizes. Change the tournament structure so you play less matches. Combine into a smaller number of teams - get two teams with a sponsorship from the same company and combine it for a full team.

There is serious discussion about having DIII (totally unsponsored) X-Ball lite stateside. The very idea that there's somehow not enough paint in the European paint sponsorships to do XBall (a whopping 50-60 cases per event) is ridiculous. And don't give me any of this "We need paint for practice too, and we have to shoot more paint for xball practice!" BS either. Practice stakes the amount of paint that practice takes. If you're shooting too much, practice less. The only reason XBall practice would take more paint is because you're getting more practice done in the same amount of time. No one is stopping you from calling it quits after you've gotten a 7-man day's worth of practice in. Or cut the roster size down to 12 people who actually excercise and save paint by not carrying the 3rd line and not having to practice them. Or, better yet, run more drills and stop calling scrimmaging practice. Or are you going to tell me snap shooting drills take more paint once you join an XBall team too?

Sometimes you guys have such a defeatist attitude that I wonder if you're not all French.

(With the exception of Robbo, who seems willing to do whatever it takes with sometimes bull-headed determination.)

There is a difference between the Euros and Us team regarding paint that you dont mention.

In campaign we bought paint for 58 usd/ box. In Miami we got the same paint for 30 usd.
In EXL we used up to 100 boxes/event.
Thats a cost most teams cant handle here in Europe.
Also bare in mind that the sponsorships here in Europe is at the best 30% of the US teams. ( Not Nexus )
So thats why alot of the Euros are a bit more reluctant to play x-ball.

$58/case? Yech. That's not XBall inhibiting, that's paintball inhibiting.

But 100 cases/event seems extreme - there are teams that win DII in PSP with 60 cases, and that's 9 matches in. Reduce the match time/tournament structure. Or maybe even cut back to 5 events - have a season schedule and give each team an off event or something.

I'm certainly not trying to say there arn't obstacles to XBall in Europe, but with some Robbo-induced creativity (step it up or he calls you french, just so I don't have to worry about any action from Missy) you guys should be able to make something happen.

As a sidebar, does anyone have any numberson the number of annual paintball participants in Europe? It's 10 million US-side, curious how hte European market compares.
