So Manike, estimate, if you will, what sorta BPS Bobby's boys will be unleashing in their next NXL outing...then, do tha same for Bob at Denver (presumably there will be no magic boardage at NPPL).

What are we saying - consistent 26BPS at NXL, consistent 15BPS at NPPL?
I wasn't actually just talking about Bobby's boys. I know of 3 teams unrelated to us that are getting new stuff... not sure Bobby needs it ;) :p just kidding. I bet everyone will have new boards for the next event now that it is 'allowed'. I'm going to have to work out how to attend just so I can watch the bloodbath, er matches. :D

Not sure I want to go on record talking about the ROF's though. Marketing hype being what it is and all, it would be bad for an engineer to start talking about facts and reality. :D

There will be a lot of paint flying though.

Yes but that doesn't mean you will get that number out of the gun. There are still limiting factors based upon the gun that come into account also.

Hopper feed numbers and rof numbers and CPS and BPS can all become confusing unless taken in context. And they have been so long abused in the world of paintball that when someone states reality they often get laughed at. :D

Why?

What's unsafe about high ROF?

If there are safety concerns, why not just provide better protective gear?

I think some basic form of head protection should be mandatory for all tournament paintball.

Posted by 'Flipflops' the guy who makes the Trauma boards and the Dynasty boards.

Apparently he helped make the wording for the new rules.

No full auto. We don't want a gun with a stuck trigger firing continuously while in the pits where nobody wears goggles.

No ramping velocity. A ballistic chronograph will now be standard for the NXL.

No "run away". This is when you pull the trigger a few times and the gun just shoots itself after you let go. Essentially full auto.

Has to shoot one ball if you want it to.

Other than that, the gloves are off.

So, why the change? Well the NXL had to go one of two ways. Either clamp down and make sure nobody cheats, or make the cheating legal. Which one brings more people to watch the games? Yup, make the guns crazy.

I personally can't wait to see people's reactions when they see Trauma shooting my new NXL software at the next PSP.

luckily the first balls never strikes the victim in an unprotected area

eh? full auto shoots itself after you let go of the trigger?

if who wants it to?

geez, thanks for sparing us all the legal mumbo-jumbo rule speak.

at this point FA looks quite appealing!

It wasn't before?!?! Or is he referring to the 'Robbie The Robot' chrono?

I really hope the NPPL don't follow the NXL's lead on this one, it's retarded in the extreme. Unlike the PSP, the NPPL actually has a reputation for good judging standards and it is not out of their control to reign in gun cheats.

The Millennium for sure couldn't introduce these lax rules, the legal situation in Europe is too tough to even risk it. Gonna be interesting to see the difference between the the NXL and EXL games from now on.

Interesting definition of F/A. It's only full auto if gun shoots itself.
So if the cheating is legal it's not cheating anymore, right? Of course, it won't be F/A either. :D

I Love The Fun Police
I've got to say I'm disappointed with the new rules. X-Ball is so fast and frenetic that it is more fun to watch than any other incarnation of PB. With every nimrod on the field shooting 20+ bps
there won't be a lot of room for movement. I hope this doesn't lead to the mass stagnation that crippled 10 man. THe trend has already started in the NiPPLe with aggressive play more often than not being quashed by the walls of paint. With the no limit death dealers about to be unleashed in the NXL, we'll have to see how much it slows the game down. All safety and ethical issues aside, the rules could hurt X-ball more than I think anybody wants to admit. I guess sometimes the easy way out is preferrable to the right way.

Yep.

Reading between the lines I interpret it as, "as long as if we hold the trigger back and the gun DOESN'T keep shooting. Then you can do it."

Oh and no ramping velocity.

So, you'll have guns with high debounce values on the first shot, so you can get single shots out.

But then go straight into MAX ROF on the second shot as long as you make the two pulls close enough together (say 0.15seconds, which is about the worst human perception level) and then let the gun keeping going as long as you get a pull every now and then.

Stopping within a shortish time after the last pull, who cares if it's a quarter of a second... it stopped didn't it?

It will be an instant on max bps FA as long as you don't actually keep the trigger held. Nice.

Expect paint consumption to go through the roof.
