Nick -

FA is not allowed at most rec fields either. The main reason is insurance, not laws.

Simon -

I think that's kind of their thinking. If they can't control the gun cheats, they'll declare them "legal" and let them have at it. Same goes for velocity - say it's the player's responsiblity and if (when) someone gets hurt, it's the players fault. Did you see the Trauma/NYX game in Chicago?

Nick

How is it that im going WAY OVERBOARD??????

You mean to tell me that no one in this world views paintball as being mischievous?

Even crazier, that a few predjudice people in this world whose never seen paintball played has even labeled players as somewhat terrorists????

Well unfortunately i have and went off the deep end to set them straight. It's factual and it's still happening. Why do you think more paintball fields are getting shut down in the states as opposed to new openings??
It's because of the old sh1t for brains politicians are living in their leave-it-to-beaver fantasy world and dont want anything to do with paintball. They get their info about paintball through the fictitous media who will write and say anything negative to sell stories
As far as Full-Auto is concerned,it's a huge detriment to the sport and unsafe. No insurance company will touch paintball and the ones that do now will void any claims made due to the very fine print in it's clauses. So anyone who thinks they are covered by going to these tournaments are dead wrong,in fact i personally know people who were turned down by the tournies insurance Co. when hurt at certain tournaments
Full auto markers are a un-skillful joke.In fact someone on this post stated it takes more skill not to get shot then to shoot someone....Hmmmmmmm that was as deep as a shallow ended kiddy pool
Paintball was developed with many angles of skill to develop whether its communication, stealth, movement, shooting etc,etc
Now i know as paintball advances in technology as with anything else, life gets alot easier and less to think about since it's the technological equiptment that helps tremendously.Unfortunately, there are to many morons who dont see this or are just plain ignorant in which case is acceptable cause their are many ignorant fools in this sport and ive come to accept that
Being that i'm an old skool player, this is the problem I, as well as others have, in that the skill factor in the game is diminishing.

can you elaborate?
OK, here's the deal with NYX vs. Trauma in Chicago, as I know it. (Boogie can probably give you the whole behind-the-scenes details)

Trauma was leading NYX by a pretty good margin. Someone on NYX's sideline apparantly noticed Trauma turning their velocity up while standing at the start box (after being chrono'd). Seems someone dropped some tools right next to their start box

so once NYX realized this they asked the refs to chrono Trauma just before the game starts (while standing at the start box) and he was shooting hot. Way hot - I've heard numbers between 340 and 360 but I didn't see the chrono so I don't know.

One of the reasons Trauma got caught is because they dropped a ref during the game.

I think the only penalty they got was a five minute major.

PS - Boogie, if I have anything wrong, please correct me. It was good seeing you again. Hope to see you in Vegas (and Malaga!)

actually when NYX spotted this i was walkin thru thier pits after cleanin my goggles when i hear a NYX player tell his coach "hey that guy just turned his marker up after he chronoed". Apon hearing this i imediatly stopped by the chrono ref on that side and told him what had just happened and told the head ref by radio being there was 4 seconds on the clock till game on we decided to chrono them all after the game and lo and behold 1 of them was shooting hot 315 average with no shot over 320 .His excuse was that he chronoed at 285 and only bumped it up a little ,also we shouldnt have been allowing teams to leave tools in there penelty boxes for pre game chronoing they now have to have a podbitch run out between points with a tool now to stop this from happening again.

When you can't get your hands on a cheater gun you might as well result to one of the oldest tricks in the book, having tools on the field :)
