I think that its a sad day when a tournament organiser has to justify each decsion that is deemed 'bad' by a disgruntled player. Nick, i suggest if you have problems with individual calls then these should be taken up on the day and/or in private with the ultimate and the event organiser.

These threads are great for discussing the general implementation of rules and marshalling standards. It has to be said that no matter what you say, nothing is going to retrospectively change the calls the marshalls made.

I suggest those that have issues back them up and those that want to jump on band wagons take a hike and go play in some traffic. The issue is not with a tournemnt series as a whole but with individual events and the marshalling at them. It is not just the NSPL that has bad calls. We need to wake up to the fact that as a community we need to be far more willing to put our heads above the parapet and support our tournaments by marshalling them and contributing.

The more i read threads like this the more i wish that players would pull their fingers out and make an effort. I also wish that players would not look on a days marshalling as an opportunity to chat to their mates while getting paid. Too many marshalls across the country dont make the effort to do the job they are paid to and take advantage of the fact that there isnt anyone else to replace them. Its worth thinking how they would feel if it was them at the end of their ****ty decision.

BAD TO THE BONE
I take no real pleasure from this but..............

I TOLD YOU I TOLD YOU I TOLD YOU I TOLD YOU

I wasn't there and in any case talking about specific's situations is a waste of time, as everyman and his dog has an oppinion.

What i will say is this; from what i can gather, you had better get used to the 'Auto 1-4-1' at least for this season and especially if your going to play any MS. :(

To be honest, if a paintball goes past you - it's probably best to call yourself out just to be on the safe side :p

Heh, it was an interesting day with the 1-4-1's yesterday and I didn't envy the position of the marshalls yesterday. I was 1-4-1'ed a couple of times for hits on my pack I'd not felt and certainly couldn't see and I know this happened to one of the teams playing against us. Certainly it's harsh and annoying but it's the only way that we will get a fairer system. With anything that included human decisions there are mistakes and different views.

They are also going to stamp down hard on the rules at the start to show people they are serious. As with anything new there will be teething problems but the NSPL have to start somewhere and good on Syd and the organisers for trying to make a tournament that doesn't stand for cheating.

I had a great day playing some good quality ball as well as having fun. Thanks to Syd and Skirmish Bristol and the rest of teh teams for that. It's one event and the past examples have seen the critisicm taken and things done to make it better next time. Look forward to seeing you Jabberwocky guys at the 50 again soon.

Head Field Judge: 'Ten Seconds'
tick tick tick
Head Field Judge: 'Game on'
tick tick tick

Head field Judge: 'Game over'

Both Team Capts: 'why game over'

Head Field Judge: 'I Auto 1-4-1nd you all'

Team Capts: 'How come'

Head Field Judge: 'There was a possibility that you were all playing on and the rules state that it's an Auto 1-4-1'

Team Capts: 'Huh, we'd only taken two steps out of our flag stations'

Head Field Judge: 'There you go then i was right to Auto 1-4-1 you all'

Team Capts: 'But we only managed to fire a few shots each'

Head Field Judge: 'Dont make it worse for yourself. you admit to fireing your guns'

Team Capts:'yes of course, it's part of the game'

Head Field Judge:' i'm sorry but i've read the rules and nowhere does it state that you must fire your guns'

Team Capts: 'So your just following the rules'

Head Field Judge: ' yep'

Team Capts: 'but no one's been hit'

Head Field Judge: 'irrelevant'

Team Capts: 'If no one's been hit, how can they be 1-4-1nd ?'

Head Field Judge: ' Oh come on you've both played cowboys and indians before'

Team Capts: 'Whats that got to do with it'

Head Field Judge: ' There is always one kid who thought that he could never die. just like you lot'. So under the new rules your out even when you do know it. it's stops the likes of that little kid who would not ever die despite being hit at least a trillion times.

Team Capts: 'your mad'

Head Field Judge: ' i dont make the rules i just follow them'

Yesterday was a very hard day with teams trying to push it to the limits. We have not used the 1-4-1 rule any harder than at Ashford.

Seen that you all had a great time to complain about the Marshals why not do it the other way:

1. Teams constantly coming on the pitch with hot markers all day long forcing Marshals to keep checking and chasing players.

2. Players with up to six layers on the pitch who have to get "changed" before the game al day long.

3. Extra padding and on markers and players. (Even a sweat band on a barrel)

4. Swearing at Marshals

5. Talking form the dead box.

6. Racist verbal abuse by one team.

I have never seen so many teams that KNOW THE RULES, bitch about it when it is was their own mistake. Breaking the rules resulted in (WHAT A SHOCK) punishment!!!

Even before the games started you were CHEATING. Don't make it sound you got hard done by.

Syd has always run a fair and very good event and will continue to do so.

It is YOU who might want to try to marshal for a day and see what it is like.

No wonder there are not enough marshals when you got so many idiots around. All you can do is complain.

I have judged my team as hard as any other team. Both my teams that played on the day have received 1-4-1s! HPG even 2 1-4-1 in one game. So don't call me biast.

Mr X( keep your name between us)

I saw you on the side line all day. If you could have done a better job than any of us, you should have got you ass on the field. Don't complain if you had a chance to help out and you couldn't be bothered!

To all the teams that played hard and fair ball, thanks!

Cheers Syd for working so hard to make UK ball better!

My origional post

For all the people that by now have probably formed the opinion that i'm a bad loser or winging for nothing. I would just like to point out that the purpose of my origional post was to insight a disscussion on the new 141 rule, on weather it is good or bad and does the quality of the marshaling effect this. The case examples used (which i still feel the same about) were mearly tools to aid the disscussion. I have spoken to Syd about this matter at lengh, and we have both come to satisfactory conclusions. The post was not set up for the purpose to air general negative feedback about the NSPL.
