I think it's a perfectly valid measure. I also think that if that's how you measure the value of a tournament, and you choose to play Milleniums, the problem is you and not the tournament, because an international series is going to be the absolutely most expensive way to play a few paintball games no matter what.

I can spend considerable effort complaining that a Hummer has poor gas milage. But the problem isn't that the Hummer has poor gas milage, the problem is that I should buy a sedan if the way I measure the value ofa car is gas milage.

Dusty figured it out: If the way you measure the value of a tournament is play time per dollar, you shouldn't play milleniums.

ps. ask clinton moore of nexus about value, 12 mintues of play in 8 games now i would be pi--ed.
At that rate 10 games would have given him 15 minutes of play--still not so great if you are assigning value to time on field.
What the MS and every other tournament organizer is offering is an opportunity to compete against other teams playing paintball at your own skill level. (This, I think, is Chicago's point--if you aren't there primarily to compete it's easy to be disappointed because you are placing value on peripheral features that may, or may not, be directly related to the competition provided.)

However, Dougal is also correct simply because in pball's present pay to play universe the competition being provided isn't simply sport for the sake of sport, it's a service, and fairly or unfairly the customer has a level of expectation. And since most players and teams are self-financing any perceived lack of value is immediate and personal 'cus they are footing the bill.

Maybe y'all would be better off listing the things you think would contribute to an event's "value." What can the MS do so that after an event you feel it was time and money well spent?

yea good one but. 8 inches are better than 6

EDIT ADDED: I see how it is. Your problem is you're always wanting what you don't have. TFP

You can always get on a Pro-Tour squad and play 10 games and pay absolutely nothing, now surely thats value for money!!!

:D :D :D

If I take my MS Promoters hat off for a while and speak as a player (as I have played both Germany and Amsterdam) I can happily say this, there is no where else I can play that lets me compete against the best teams in Europe and judge my teams ability against them plus, every now and then, I get to go toe-to-toe with the likes of XSV, Arsenal, Joy, Nexus.....the list goes on.
Also, if I am good enough, I get to spend a whole day playing infront of 1000 people cheering me on or, if I suck, I get to play street paintball all day for free.
Finally just one more thing to add, if you have ever played in a MS final (or even semi) you will always think its worthwhile.....there really is nothing in our sport to beat it except winning of course, that beats everything!

ok thats all good but give us the 10 games back:(
And for those few who don´t know him, Johan has been playing the MS pretty much since it first started, and has always been one of it´s most vocal advocates. His complaining about it is a clear signal to the board... think about it, particularly now that you have people waiting on the sidelines, looking to take over your share of the market.

If they can offer more than 8 games for the same price.
I want 30 games for the same price!

No wait - I want X-Ball for the same price

- and my paint sponsorship tripled!!

Seriously though.... while I completely agree it would be cool to bring back the 10 game prelims.... I am also realistic enough to know, that as long as the MS has no real competition in Europe, nothing much is going to happen.

"Vote with your feet" ?

- Yeah right ! - where are you gonna go??

:p

What WILL be interesting (and unprecedented in paintball), is when a competing league, with the same game format, enter the scene.... because THEN things like number of games, level of reffing, price for entry, etc. will suddenly matter a WHOLE lot, and be something the promoters focus on.
