Why though? Why would they when only 2 Euro Div 1 teams played in their league all year? Hellwood and Scalp. Nobody in their right mind would run the league with more concern for the small Euro contingent than it deserved.
Rubbish. I do not know one team who enters so they may get the chance to get smashed by the pros. Teams enter so that they can be part of a huge event, so that they can win, so that they can gain a place in the series. Not so they get 30 seconds against players who are far better than them. They will look up to the same people they did before, the pro teams.
Have you actually had it confirmed that the NPPL will run a totally separate league for the 18 pros? Has it been confirmed anywhere? At the moment it is just supposition. Untill it has been confirmed then it is not worth debating.
Teams in Euroland will do the Euro NPPL events because they will be the only series running. At the end of the day, if there are 4 NPPL events in Europe teams will play them. 90% of teams could not give a damn where they come in the series, as there were no series prizes last year, they played the events because paintball is their passion. Who runs them, or from where means nothing. Most of the teams at Toulouse, were French, most at CC were from the UK, most at Germany were German. Local teams will always make up the majority in NPPL Euro/MS events. They will not care if they can play the NPPL. No teams (including yours) were bothered about not playing the NPPL last year were they? The only teams who have played the NPPL properly this season, without only playing the minimum 2 events, are Shock and Nexus, playing 4 out of the 5 events, and Joy, Ton Ton playing 3 events.
I think that very phrase was posted at the beginning of 2004, seems like a trend!Originally posted by Nick Brockdorff
The only thing that is frustrating at the moment, is that the lack of concrete information on the 2005 season, is making it a little difficult to make strategies for the coming season with our sponsors.

You are not the only one that likes to beat their Pro, however, at least in SoCal the Div1-3 teams don't go to these events for that one game, I'd venture to guess that's how it is for many of the teams. They go to play good paintball, at a nice event and try to win. It's all about competing, not about one game in the prelims.Originally posted by Chuck
It must just be the Jags and me then, I love giving a "Pro" team a bloody nose on the playing field.
There probably are some teams that go out there to play there pro, but I wouldn't think that is the main reason and if all of a sudden no one got to play the pros the events would still be sold out because teams are there to compete not for one game in the prelims.Originally posted by Chuck
Takedown I disagree with you that lower Div teams don't go to big events to play big name teams, true some teams are in it for the series others it may be their once a year shot at a bit of giant killing. But with out the accessible big teams present it is the event that ends up getting marginalized (nice phrase Baca) not the teams.
I know all the Pro teams will be at these events, and I understand the T.V reasoning behind this. But look at what has happened this year with the NXL the locked league bleachers were empty in contrast to the open, which was what everyone did watch.
1. I have not contradicted myself at all. I was recognising that there are 2 groups of teams who go to the events for two main reasons. One is the hardcore teams who play every event in the Div 1 section, Hellwood, Jags, Scalp, CD, etc.... and then there are other teams who go to the event because it is their local event eg, Jolt at Campaign etc..... I know of no teams whatsoever who merely go to an event for the one game vs a pro team.Originally posted by Chuck
1. So what is it Sam do they play for the series points or do they play for the one off event. You have contradicted yourself again.
2. Just climb down off the high horse every now and then Sam; things look different when both feet are on the floor.
