I thought they were playing as Miami Effect in the NXL and Effect everywhere else? Maybe I missed something along the way.

Oh and sorry to go off topic but the Dynasty A4 got to the prototype stage, I saw it, and was going to be used to launch the new eye's, but they left for SP and WDP used the Joy gun to launch instead.

Let's see. ME takes a hike from the NXL. Hard to imagine unless their major sponsors didn't object. And, somehow, in the mix Richmond has relinquished control over his franchise team, the same ME. Doesn't that mean the inventor of Xball has given up a significant element of what was supposed to be his future cash cow?
Meanwhile, real info about the near term media prospects for the NXL are held tighter than light from the backside of a black hole . . . hmm.
I don't know what it all means but if'n I was another NXL team I'd be looking for some serious answers to a whole passle of questions right about now.
I'd also be checking the fine print of my contracts with a magnifying glass--

Contracts in a broader context, Colin. Not necessarily NXL exclusive. Sponsor deals, mostly. If NPS is okay with ME leaving the NXL would they be okay with Oakland taking a hike, for example? And is there anything in Oakland's sponsor deals that could inhibit how and where they play?
That's the sort of thing I meant. Even though most of the teams have "owners" so did ME and if the reports are correct it didn't stop them.

Conflicting signals from all that is NXL indeed !!!
If the NXL are holding out in terms of releasing potential media information, then I can't understand their motives unless it's a stalling strategy until they can renegotiate....
It don't seem to add up coz if I was sitting with a NXL franchise and was also funding a NXL team and things looked grim as the Dick Clark's Holy Grail was fading away, the last thing I woud be doing would be hanging around for somebody to strike up the death march, I'd cut my losses and run like a greyhound with a squib up its ass.
Could pride explain it?
Nah....it has to be either the prospect of the existing deal having to be renogtiated or they are trying to cut some sorta deal elsewhere and I can't see the latter somehow.
Hmmmm....I think a few fone calls are in order :):)

Is it confirmed that Richmond has sold out to SP? and what about this one franchise per owner rule that initially prevented SP from buying in for both AA's and Strange and the whole crossman thing happened?

Anyway, if Richmond has sold to SP (who were the principal engineers of the DC deal I thought) then perhaps this is him cutting his losses on X for the time being like you say Pete? SP take up the slack as they are pushing the DC angle and believe the hype more, or just trying to shore up the league until DC actually comes up with anything concrete.

But.....

Multiple choice...

A - They do, Richmond doesn't, end of story. Maybe they are privvy to info Richmond isn't, maybe they have faith and he has lost his.

B - Holding exercise. They pick up the franchise slot for Miami but do not use it - therefore not contravening the 'one owner, one team' rule. They merely hold it until the mythical TV deal comes thru and Nike and Pepsi are banging on tha door to buy a franchise and SP makes a nice chunk o change.

C - Face saving. SP brought Dick Clarke to tha table in tha first place and refuse to let the dream die.

D - Richmond cut his losses and SP bought it for 50c and a plate of nachos - in which case, why not? Cheap gamble if that's all you stand to lose

E - SP hasn't bought tha franchise at all.
