how about this one?
A. the NXL SOLD franchises to a bunch of industry folks, in order to raise money for their big push.
B. a franchise without players is worth $0.00
C. a franchise owner in a league that can't promote games (because of lack of players) is an UNhappy franchise owner
D. Force the players to sign exclusivity deals with their respective franchises so that each franchisee is able to field a team
E. neglect or overlook the quid pro quo for the players and hope they don't notice
F. League makes money
G. Franchisees make money
H. players have nowhere to go but out if they complain about it
For a hint as to how this thing has gone and is going, check out the early history of the NFL, when injured players were dropped when they couldn't play, when there was no players' union, etc.
Considering the brain trust involved, I'm sure THEY'VE already read the history...
