Try this on for size. The peeps who are disturbed by the NexoLegion are also disturbed by the Dynabot ringers playing as Entourage in Malaga but that whole thing is a little sketchier 'cus the teams are connected. Even so, there's lots of posts and threads related to the general subject of ringers, etc. and it offends the sense of fair play of some folks--particularly those who view tourney paintball in a more parochial sort of way. Further there's more NexoLegion chatter 'cus it hits closer to home with most of the posters and what they really want--besides somebody to beat the Americans--is a homegrown team they can live vicariously through and feel proud to be a Brit paintballer. Is that so hard to understand?

This is it, lots of other teams did the same or similar, with ringers. Many teams a division down even had several ringer pro's playing for them, which is surely 'just as bad'. At least with Nexus it was players from the same division.

The issue is purely that Nexus and RL are more well known. People don't get so up in arms if they don't know the teams doing it...

But there has been so much of it this year that I'm no longer suprised to see people wearing different shirts and playing on different teams.

Heck no-one got this upset when Bob Long Coached for Infamous at WC... shouldn't they have? NO!

If it's allowable within the rules then STFU.

If it isn't then bitch.

If you don't like the rules, complain about them and get them changed.

Well, I'm seeing a lot of words and I think I understand, but it still leaves me bewildered. No one broke any rules, and I'm sure if you count the net amount of Ringers used over the whole season by all the teams in question you'd probably come up with a roughly similar number anyway. So Nexus played all their jokers in the last hand, seems like a smart thing to do in the circumstances.

Ohhhh the horror of it all.

Iam from the UK and i want UK teams to be on top of the world but if you look on PBNATION their saying stuff like" NEXUS are pritty much buying their way into the 2005 pro nppl, that sucks", but what iam tryin to say is if NEXUS came 3rd with original squad people wont be saying stuff like that on PBnation ,it is about respect

WORD. I WOULD HEREBY LIKE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THA TURN-YOUR-GUN-OFF-AND-GET-A-100-POINT-PENALTY RULE.

See, it makes it better if'n you shout...

Turn your gun off before your team is clear, get DQ'd. Turning guns off is, to all intents and purposes, an admission of having what tha Brits would call 'a dodgy marker'.

Absolutely true...

What the NPPL / Millennium needs, IMHO, is to take up sensible * rules of team rosters and how players change teams.

Some sort of a list of Div I and Pro players attached to teams and not be allowed to change teams at will during the season.

Div II and III teams might be allowed unlimited changes in rosters, but not if the newly added players have been on a Div I or Pro teeam roster the previous 12, 18, 24 months or so.

* sensible meaning not to strict rules so they do not stifle player's growth or "career", can be enforced, but strict enough to stop unlimited guesting....

My view has long been that it is best for the teams, the leagues, the sponsors and therefore the players, if the "team-name" becomes as valuable as possible.

To protect the team name brand the team has to mean something. Unlimited guesting detracts from that value in the long run.

In the isolated case of RL players guesting in Nexus for one game or one tournament detracts from the team value for the time being, but they win it back and then some by being secured in pro for the years to come.... given they do not get demoted, which there is no reason to assume...

I totally understand why and would do the same if such a decision had been up to me....

No hard feelings at all mate, it's all good.

I can totally see where everyone is coming from on all their views and opinions and it's cool to talk about it after all it is a forum, I just think that the issue of us already being in a qualifying position prior SD has been over looked by many.

It's a shame people are saying that on PBNation but I'm sure next year we won't put ourselves into this position and be open to criticism, for this subject anyway !

You're right, it's about respect and I together with the rest of Nexus would have loved the original Nexus team to get 3rd place. Sh1t sticks and no doubt people will be going on about this for a long time or until another team has to get a little "insurance".

that's fine though, we can all take it - even Chris now!!!

I agree that maximising your chances of qualification within the rules is perfectly acceptable, but borrowing an entire team? Just because it's within the rules does not make it correct, it also doesn't mean you can't voice your concerns.

The fact also remains that current members of Nexus must be fairly dejected.

I personally would not be happy at the thought of having to give up my place (that they must have worked hard for) so players from another team can qualify on my behalf. Surely qualifying with Nexus players (even if it is more risky) would have given the team much more credibility in the eyes of sponsors, players and other teams?

Other Euro Pro teams managed to qualify without substituing entire squads of players. I do think that the choices made by Nexus will benefit the team in the long run and I doubt I would have done things differently if I was in their shoes. But could Nexus have been in the same position without help?
